I don't think he would have kept it at the Mac level but the drop off wouldn't have been as great. Not only did you hire a coach with no experience but you also drove off all the long time assistants because of it. If Simmons is hired then most of the staff probably stays.

Whether or not that would have any impact on today....who knows. It was a long time ago and CU has never put money into the program, until recently, so a fall might have occurred eventually anyways.
