Eastern Washington? I wish we had Notre Dame some time in the near future.
I like the idea of WVU and Hawaii.
Great exposure to recruiting bases by scheduling.
Don't know much about Eastern Washington, hopefully not an upset in the making.
Fun games, should be a boost for recruiting and season tickets.
I like it:thumbsup:
That would have been awesome. Oh well.
Might be biting off more than we can chew.
You hear that? North Carolina is scared of our basketball team!
Eastern Washington is D II aren't they? While I like the idea of two "real" OOC opponents, CSU and a patsy, the last time CU did that it didn't work out so well.
I didn't realize playing Hawaii in Hawaii meant you could squeek in another home game that season! That's a good deal for the revenue situation of the AD but those will be some loooong seasons for our buffs with the potential of them having to play 15 games (13 regular season, 1 ccg and 1 bowl).
That's been the rule for as long as I can remember. The idea being that because it costs so much to go to the islands, you need to provide some kind of inducement for teams to travel there. I hadn't heard that the rule changed after the expansion to 12 regular season games, so I guess it's still in effect.
I like the schedule, unfortunately that 100k in damages is spoken for with our NCAA sanction.
It's like that Seinfeld episode where he always finds what he loses. Elane threw a $20 bill out the window and he found another one in his pocket.
so Bohn is Even Steven?
It would appear that way, yes.
That kind of scheduling is going to keep the Buffs around 7-5 every year.
Hogwash. That kind of scheduling is what we had when we won a national title in 1990 and nearly another one in 1994.
If you want to be the man, you got to beat the man. I love it. Bring em on.
In 1990 and 1994 -- CU was the man.
CU is the bitch now. This scheduling is folly. Nobody else schedules like this. When you already have to play Nebraska every year, and either OU or Texas every year - not to mention the rest of the teams of the Big 12 -- it is assinine to play this kind of schedule.
I don't mind playing the name teams, but you can't make a living playing two or three nationally ranked teams every season OOC. I know we need to make money, but going 8-4 every year doesn't help matters.
I think you living a decade and a half behind sacky. CU isnt even close to sniffing the athletes you and I recall seeing each week. We need to be a little more realistic in our approach and our climb back to elite status. Nothing wrong with being ambitious, but you gotta add some reality to it. jmho
btw- Im not fearful of playing the horses, but you gotta have some of your own to run with. Nor do I expect to win those races each time. Line up and beat the folks you should. Line up against an even foe, play your best, and let the ball bounce where it does. Thats all I ask. 50-50 in those instances.
What the hell is the matter with you guys? Mac scheduled tough teams long before he had the horses to run with them. To him it didn't matter. Plus, I'd rather get my nose bloody in the OOC so that we're better prepared for the speed of teams like UT and OU.
Holy **** your schedule just got tougher!!!!:wow:
yep, we were pretty low when Hawk got here, but not as low when Mac got here. We lost to Drake TWICE at home under Chucky, that is fricken low.
Remember when everybody wanted our AD's head after he extended Mac's contract after a 1-10 season? Who was our AD then? Crowder? Marolt? Gee?
Well, with this kind of schedule we are much like an SEC team. All the bitching you hear from the SEC fans about beating up on each other week after week making it tough to win a national title. Whatever.... ****in bring it. :slayer:
Unfortunately- most of the teams who play that kind of OOC schedule get broken legs, busted knees, shoulder injuries, etc. -- much much worse than just a bloody nose.
Ask Bob Stoops how worthwhile his trip to Oregon was this past year. Got the royal screw-job from the refs and possibly lost a chance at another national title game by playing in Oregon.
Take a look at the out of conference schedule of the elite teams in college football. Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio State, Florida, LSU, etc. Sure - they will play a tough game every once in a while --- but generally only 1 tough non-conference opponent, with the rest of them being pretty much cupcakes.
OU's OOC in 2007 -- North Texas, Utah State and Tulsa-- with U. of Miami sandwiched in there.
Texas' OOC in 2007 -- Arkansas State, TCU, UCF and Rice.
Check it out Helmet.... If the Buffs play Miami(OH) and West Virginia back to back weeks, I'm thinking we're gonna have to do a mini road trip to the southeast.
Its already on my calendar bro!
Oxford is 20 minutes and Morgantown is 5 hours. Im so there.
Nebraska is barely a top 25 team anymore. OU and UT are the teams to watch out for in conference. The north is pathetic and has been waiting for someone to step up and own it for awhile now.
As I posted earlier. The mid tier teams that used to be easily scheduled cannon fodder aren't as willing anymore to schedule unless they get a least one game at their house. The trend is that they want a home-away-home series. Who wants to play Western Michigan in Kalamazoo? Their stadium holds like 15,000 people. More and more BCS teams are having to play each other to avoid the three game scenario. This is partly why NU is now playing the USCs of the world when historicaly they would not have.
I don't hear Hawkins complaining about the schedule. Of course, I may have missed it. I prefer the Bobby Bowden phrase; "we will play anyone, anywhere, anytime."
Bring it!
Awesome. I just hope its back to back weeks.
It isn´t. Swap UNC with WVU.
