With all our focus on the Buffs coaching situation almost forgot about the other games this week.

We have already had a surprise as Frank Solich’s Ohio Bobcat’s have upset the University of Buffalo for their second loss of the year.

If they have forgotten Nebraska fans can think back to when Solich was their coach and they could win most of their games including some against teams with winning records.

Not much notable on Thursday or Friday nights but some G5 teams jockeying for bowl position.

Saturday’s top 25 matches are mostly mismatches.

Some SEC teams scheduling their typical late season “challenges” against FCS teams or close.

(1) Bama has their “contest” against The Citadel, (5) Georgia plays UMass and (7)LSU faces the awesome 1-10 Rice Owls. Consistent with their SEC brethren (17) Kentucky gets Middle Tennessee

Best game of the day looks to be (3) Notre Dame hosting (12) Syracuse.

In other games matching top 25 teams (16) Iowa State is at (15) Texas and (24) Cincinnati is at (11) UCF.

At least for good news we should expect the fuskers to return to their losing ways. Michigan State has been as inconsistent on the field as the school has been in protecting girls and women but they shouldn’t have any problem beating the remaining Cornhuskers who haven’t transferred to Oregon State yet.

Not much hope of a Penn State loss as they play Rutgers who may be the worst P5 team in the nation.

Baylor hosts a TCU team that if healthy would be highly favored but that has lost more players than some teams have.

Huge game in Laramie as the AFA takes on Wyoming in a game which the loser is out of any bowl contention.

CSU will have PLENTY of available seats as 9-1 Utah State visits Ft. Collins to add to Coach Bobo’s losing record. Utah State is only favored by 28 so the few sheep fans still interested can hope for a cover.

In the FCS Northern Colorado has finished it’s season at 2-9 after losing the first 7. Only question now is will they be changing coaches. Earnest Collins is 5-17 in two seasons.

This week’s biggest game may be in it’s smallest venue. CSU Pueblo goes to Golden for a rematch against Colorado School of Mines in the opening round of the D2 playoffs. Winner advances with a tough road trip to regional #1 Minnesota Mankato.

This will be a tough challenge but when Pueblo won their national championship they played and won multiple games on the road.

Houston starting against Tulane in a few minutes.

Not the season Houston hoped for with their talent but working for bowl position.

I'd love to see a disruptor on the Buffs D-line like Ed Oliver.

Earnest Collins has been there for 8 ****ing years, I assume you are just pointing out what could be his most successful 2 year stretch

Love the kNub shade as always!

By the way, just since this thread got started an email from the administration has come out to all of us on the Berkeley campus: classes canceled tomorrow, status of game not yet decided (air quality issues from nearby wildfires).

Actually this weeks post was a rush job and not one of my better efforts.

Don't know that a game between two 6-4 teams, even with the rivalry they have would normally make my listing. In the PAC if we are looking at rivalries you can look that this weeks battle for LA as well. UCLA has been bad at 2-8 and USC at 5-5 is a series that has seen it's share of upsets over the years.

Wonder what's gonna happen for Stanford-Cal at this point. Got to expect they'll do something to adjust that game time.

California Wildfires: Nevada at San Jose State has been pushed up two hours to noon PT due to air quality concerns stemming from the ongoing California wildfires. Meanwhile, UC Davis at Sacramento State has been moved to Nevada’s Mackay Stadium on Saturday. That game will also kick at noon PT. (via FootballScoop)

Cal-Stanford postponed due to fires/poor air quality. Not sure if/how this will affect our game at Cal next week.

Oh **** what if we don't get the last gasp chance at a bowl game cause we went 5 and 6. Perfect end to hcmm

Could we schedule a game with Bethune-Cookman? Can we also go back and revise our losses into wins because after all we are great because we are us?

No, that would also mean we would have to start wearing red polyester as greeting everyone we see with "How 'bout dem Buffs, huh?"

Oh well. Once Cal figured out that Brandon McIlwain is terrible and stopped letting him on the field, that pretty much killed any chance we have of winning that game

A shift in the winds and some rain is expected this weekend through next week. Highly doubtful our game against Cal would be impacted.
Yep. Cal is not gonna give up a home date. PACN is not gonna give up valuable content. They will figure out a way to play this game.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Luckily(?) since Cal and Stanford are both ineligible for the conference title game, the Big Game is rescheduled for Dec. 1. And yes, as for the Buffs game, it’ll get played one way or another.

Not clear if this is good for CU or not. On the one hand, Cal is now getting an extra bye week right before the Buffs come in to town. On the other hand, Cal has generally sucked ass after byes. On the other hand, Cal's top seven wide receivers are all injured and this may give them time to heal for the game. On the other hand, Cal could very well be overlooking CU in their quest to get the axe back from Stanford (something that hasn't happened since 2009). On the other hand Cal's defense was rolling and this loss of momentum could really hurt them. On the other hand, the Stanford game would have been very physically draining and coming after Washington, WSU and USC all within the last month could have resulted in more injuries. On the other hand . . .

Oh who the hell knows. I'm sure whatever is the most depressing and flabbergasting thing imaginable is exactly what will happen because. . . well because we're Cal and all.

You guys are 6-4 right? You may not have much to play for next week.

True dat. Well the part about our record at least. Dragging ourselves out of the cellar of the PAC 12 North is always an incentive, but clearly getting bowl eligibilie was huge. But being Cal we have at least a dozen posters who are convinced we won’t get a bid unless we win 7 games. They are certifiably out of their minds given the number of bowls and Cal’s size, but a lot of losing over a lot of years will make you a bit unhinged.
