Who’s for real, who gets to steal. Getting down to the end where a loss can put a team out of the playoffs or a win can let a team sneak into a conference championship game.

Tuesday and Wednesday we get that MAC action, for those who can’t get enough football, games all week.

University of Buffalo which was a laughingstock a few years ago is now at 8-1 and aiming for a conference championship. Kent state at 2-7 shouldn’t provide much of a threat despite fans of a certain school in red arguing that 2-7 is a sign of greatness.

Thursday night gives us (21) North Carolina state hosting a Wake Forest team that is only 4-5 but has played some teams tougher than their record would indicate.

On Friday Louisville who is 2-7 (and wishes they could be special like that other 2-7 school in red) goes to (19) Syracuse.

The interesting game of the night is in the Mountain West with (23) Fresno State on the blue turf of Boise. Boise is not in their usual spot on top of the league but they are 7-2 and the biggest national name so this is a chance for Fresno to get some recognition.

Only two games this week between ranked teams and neither looks to be a close match. (2) Clemson visits (22) Boston College and (1) Alabama host (18) Mississippi State.

A couple of other games don’t look to be close but potentially could impact the playoff picture. (4) Notre Dame historically has stumbled against an unranked team each year. This week they have Florida State in who has been bad but does have some talented individuals. Auburn is also unranked but talented enough to give (6) Georgia a scare.

(10) Ohio State looked disinterested last week against the corn. This week they have the Michigan State Nasty Nassers who at 6-3 are much better than the 2 win champions.

Other teams we want to see lose include Baylor at (24) Iowa State and (14) Pedo State facing visiting Wisconsin who at 6-3 could extend the Pedo apologist recent slide.

The 4-5 Illinois Illini must be shaking in their cleats. After all they are playing in the delusions zone after the fusker fans have now designated themselves as the greatest 2 win team in history. Notice how they haven’t said much about the greatest 3 win team, might have something to do with them sucking bad enough that they are not likely to pick up another win. If they don’t get it this week they won’t because they finish with Michigan State and Iowa, two teams that won’t be impressed by their red tinted fantasies.

What is it with Head Coach Frosty and teams declaring themselves champions that nobody else recognizes or takes seriously.

Wyoming gets the week off.

AFA coming off a tough loss to Army gets a chance to feel better hosting a bad and undisciplined New Mexico, a chance for Air Force to pick up a needed win.

The Sheep coming off their bye week (otherwise called Bobo didn’t give us another reason to want him fired week) go to Nevada who is 5-4 and pushing for bowl eligibility. At least the Rams don’t have to lose in front of their own fans disguised as empty seats after Halloween.

Local FCS has Northern Colorado travelling to Montana State. If Nebraska thinks being 2-7 makes them good then UNC with one more loss at 2-8 must be great.

Small colleges give us the last week of the regular season. After Colorado Mines was upset last week by Dixie State, Mines and Pueblo have identical 8-1 records and are hoping for national playoff seeding.

Mines has the tiebreaker for the conference title but Pueblo was only two spots behind them in the national rankings prior to their loss.

Mines host Chadron and Pueblo goes to Western State.

Didn’t know UNCo was 2-8. Preseason predictions were that they’d be good this year. Brutal year in the state of CO.

UNC has struggled a lot this year. They are down to their third QB but that doesn't explain the terrible play by the rest of the team.

This past weekend they weren't expected to beat Eastern Washington which normally one of the better FCS programs but their OL only managed to produce 42 yards rushing net and game up six sacks. The D gave up 292 yards rushing. That isn't just a loss, that is ugly.

A lot of UNC fans are not happy with the job HC Earnest Collins has done there.

AFA hasn't met expectations either being only 3-6 matching CSU for record futility.

This is going to be a silly season for the ages in these parts-The Broncos, CU, CSU (would probably have to settle with Bobo to do it IMO-somebody with better knowledge of their finances correct me if I'm wrong), and UNC could all make coaching changes.

Wyoming-Air Force next week very well could determine bowl eligibility for both teams.

Every year there’s one team devastated by injuries. This year it’s TCU. But even by most disaster year standards, this is bad.

I’d throw in that with the way they’ve played the last two weeks (beating Washington, losing by one score at WSU), the Cal vs USC game at least has the potential to be interesting.

I’ll start the day with tailgate breakfast burritos and bloody Marys before thr UCF-Navy game at noon est. Not suprisingly I’m the only Colorado tent in our tailgate lot. Should be fun, Navy’s offense is intersting to me, and UCF’s is fun for everyone. Good way to honor veterans with a service academy in the bounce house.

Normally being ranked 4 times in 5 years including a NC runner up and going to a bowl every year would give a coach some job security.

When your in-state conference rival is busy winning national championships though it isn't enough.

Despite being 6-3 it seems that Gus Malzahn is under some pressure to do better. He just got the dreaded vote of confidence from his AD who stated that he will be back as head coach next year. The fact that the question even came up in seriousness though means that some influential people are asking the question about him.

Auburn still has a lot of talented players, one of the complaints about Malzahn is that he doesn't get the potential from his teams.

If Auburn were to upset (6) Georgia how long would that take the pressure off him. They still end with their traditional game against Bama and that one is probably a no-hoper but would beating a top 10 team get the fans back on his side?

Don't they have a date with the Blessed Order of St. Mary the Meek in between?

Malzahn is going nowhere. Full stop.
It’s kind of a weird situation.

When he won that coin flip game against LSU a few years ago, it was “loser gets fired”. Miles lost his job on a game that had a weird ending and Gus survived.

Then we had the Bama game where it looked like a loss meant no extension and he would leave for Arkansas. It seemed most Auburn fans wanted to see him leave, but the win forced Auburn’s hand into a rich extension.

Now I think Auburn and Gus are stuck with each other for at least 1 more season, probably 2.

Solid work, per usual. (y)

How did NC State give that game away?

I stopped watching when they were up 23-13 in the 4th and in total control. Wake couldn't run or pass. Wolfpack were dropping a lot of passes and couldn't get their run game going, though.

Got caught on a blitz after basically falling apart on D and giving up chunk plays. One on a route run the wrong way!

And the failed 4th down conversion on an incomplete pass didn’t help either.
True. I didn't mention it because going for it was the right thing to do there and didn't affect the game. The problem was not getting that first down.
