Phillip Lindsay

He has looked both quicker and faster on the field this year.

Phil in HS was also known as a guy with the extra gear. At least at the HS level he could run away from people.

Then he had the injury and some were even questioning if he should keep his scholly.

It may be that he is simply working like the effort monster he is and has gotten that extra step back. He also looks like he is running through a lot of contact that last year would have brought him down.

Overall he has taken a visible step forward and has been a key contributor because of it.

The speed has always been there. He had an ACL injury senior year in High school. Took some time to get back his full speed.

I think a big thing is he has changed his running style. Early on he would seek contact in the open field and try to run guys over. Now he puts a move on guys and makes cuts to avoid them

Looks like he is much more confident that he can shake guys or go by them instead of just running through them.

Hagan was really put down by many as a RB coach after Hawkin's reign. Some who post on this board ventured that he never should have been a position coach at all. Good to see the RBs doing so well this season.
I was one of those people. It tells you a lot about how much influence the head coach and coordinator have in position coaching, IMO.

Mostly it's about being stronger and smarter. He's decisive, knows the speed of the game, knows what he can get away with, knows how to read the defense & his blockers, and is breaking arm tackles.

This, he's not going slower, he's seeing what's there.

Takes some smarts to read a defenders motion and break the other way. PL also has a hitch step that throws defenders off. He is still slow as Molases but is able to use it to his advantage through technique
