Pro Track and Field Buffs (& current Buffs in pro races)- 2021 news and highlights

Just wanted to mention it looks like, per the below, #ForeverBuffs Sage Hurta and Sara Vaughn are entered to race in the Sir Walter Raleigh mile in Raleigh, NC. tomorrow (Friday) evening. Looks like the woman's race is schedule to begin at 7:15 PM MT (9:15 PM Raleigh time).

Note- race can only be viewed by anyone who has a premium RunnerSpace +PLUS

For any Buff track and field fans, noticed that Dani Jones is about to race (in a minute or two) an 800M race on ESPN as part of the American Track League.

This Saturday afternoon is the biggest annual (Non-U.S. Championships) meet in the U.S., as the Diamond League comes to Eugene for the Prefontaine Classic, with NBC scheduled to provide live coverage. At least 2*** #ForeverBuffs are scheduled to race, with Valerie Constien in the women's steeplechase scheduled to begin at 2:12 PM MT, and the men's 2 mile race, scheduled to begin at 2:56 PM MT, has Joe Klecker scheduled to toe the starting line.

***As I type this, the Program link below still doesn't list the entries for some events. (Also want to note Emma Coburn is still showing on the Entry List for the steeplechase, but she posted in Instagram today that she won't be racing as her body's not 100% and she "decided it’s best to give it a little more time,".)

Just noticed the entry lists for the Prefontaine Classic have been updated to include ALL races and events. (See my prior post for more in general on the meet.)

Wanted to mention that a couple additional #ForeverBuffs, Dani Jones and Sara Vaughn, will also be competing in Eugene, with both of them toeing the starting line later tonight, with their 1500M (tonight's race being designated for North American runners) scheduled to start at 10:12 PM MT. Unlike tomorrow's events, sounds like this evening's races will not be easy for most to watch as, per https://preclassic.runnerspace.com/eprofile.php?event_id=120&do=news&news_id=623469, it's available only to those relative few who have a " USATF.TV+ / RunnerSpace +PLUS" premium subscription.

Oops- I missed that recently graduated Sage Hurta was also in this race, and it looks like she was the top Buff finisher, and 2nd overall, finishing just one spot ahead of longtime teammate Dani Jones in 3rd, with Sara Vaughn a couple spots further back in 5th. Ms. Hurta's time (4:07.50) was a Personal best for her, very young in her pro career.

Wanted to mention I just turned on the NYC Marathon, and one of ~11 ~12 women in the front pack of the elite pro field is #ForeverBuff Laura Thweatt. I believe this is her 1st marathon in awhile as she comes back from injury. (Their race is "only" ~45 minutes in, so the bulk of the story is still to be written,)

(Edit - Per one of the announcers, she is now coaching herself. She is coached by and is part of the training group of #ForeverBuff Joe Bosshard, and I believe still lives and trains mainly in the Boulder area.)
