CU is taking talents FROM South Beach.

This edition of the Colorado Buffaloes staff has more Florida connections than almost any of the prior iterations. That has led to some interesting cross country travel for recruits and coaches, but it’s also led to some pretty good success on the recruiting trail. Jamari Holliman is the latest addition from the Sunshine State.

Holliman hails from Borland High School in Miami, a traditional hotbed for high school football talent. He’s a late bloomer who will continue to jump up recruiting rankings as he plays out his senior year. At 6’ flat and 170 pounds, he has good size for a high school safety. He picked Colorado after backing off his Toledo (Dan Hawkins anger flashback) pledge.

Holliman plays boundary corner and just about everywhere else for his high school, but it’s easy to see why he’s a safety at the next level. His tape shows plenty of size on that frame, as well as a nose for the ball in the air. His ball skills honestly surprised me when I watched his highlights. Later on in the video, you can see some of that physicality show up as well. Jamari is definitely an aggressive player and really does not shy away from any hitting. If you combine that with superior ball skills, you may end up with something like Tedric Thompson.
