The Buffs will be without their star freshman.

The Colorado Buffaloes will take on the 15th-ranked Miami Hurricanes without star freshman Cody Williams. First reported by Pat Rooney, Williams has a wrist injury that will prevent him from playing today. It does not appear to be a long-term issue.

This is obviously a blow to the Buffs’ upset chances. Williams has emerged as a two-way star just seven games into his college career. He’s scored 21 in each of his last two games, despite not being known as a scorer. Tad Boyle will really miss his usual driving and passing acumen, intelligence on the defensive end, and of course, those shots he’s been making.

Without Williams, Boyle will have to lean more on Tristan da Silva and KJ Simpson are primary scorers and playmakers. Simpson has been superb early this season, while da Silva has struggled to assert himself in his senior role. Maybe this is the push TdS needs to find that rhythm.

This also means Luke O’Brien will play starter minutes and freshmen Assane Diop and Bangot Dak will get more playing time. It’s a tough game for the youngins, but they need that experience sooner than later.
