Great to see the whole meet is getting televised and/ or streamed.

Good luck starting tomorrow to all the Buffs!

After 3 events in the women's heptathlon, CU's Abrianna Torres is currently in 21st place.

The semifinals of the men's 1500m is up next with Ben Saarel competing in the first heat in a minute or two on ESPNU.

There are two heats to the 1500m with the top 5 from each heat advancing and the next two best times.

After this 2nd heat, Connor Winter will be up in the first heat of the 3000m steeplechase

Hard for me to tell, but it looks like Connor Winter is towards the back and it will be difficult for him to advance

The last Buff competing today will be Pierce Murphy in the 10,000 meter final in about an hour and a half.

Pierce Murphy finishes 5th and is now an All American

EUGENE, Ore. – University of Colorado junior Pierce Murphy recorded a fifth place finish in the 10,000-meter run to lead the Buffs on Thursday and earn his first outdoor All-America honor.

This was Murphy’s first appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships and he made it one to remember, clocking in at 29:15.18 for the award winning performance.

Like he had been doing all season, Murphy ran a patient and controlled race, steadily moving up the field. About half way through, Murphy moved up from the middle of the pack to third. He dropped back a short time later, but continued to stay patient as he waited for the right time to make another move. He finished very strong, running the final 400 meters in 58.76 seconds.

In total, this is Murphy’s fourth All-America honor – his third this athletic season (2014-15). He has earned the distinction twice as a member of the cross country team and this past March he earned the award for the indoor 5k where he placed sixth.

Great qualifying run by Buff senior transfer Sara Sutherland in the 1500 meters, as she finishes 2nd in her heat (#1) and will definitely be racing Saturday. (There are 2 heats, with top 5 finishers of each heat automatically qualifying for finals.)

EUGENE, Ore. – University of Colorado senior Sara Sutherland earned a spot in the 1,500-meter finals on Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships after clocking a time of 4:16.97 Thursday afternoon in the semifinals.

The Dallas, Texas native recorded a runner-up finish to take one of the five automatic qualifying positions from the first heat, finishing second to the Pac-12 and reigning NCAA Champion Shelby Houlihan, who finished in 4:16.87.

Sutherland started the race in the back of the pack, but moved up to the middle by the halfway point. Entering the bell lap, she had pulled herself up to second and stayed there.

Redshirt freshman Erin Clark was also in action in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She finished eighth in the first heat, 15th overall, with a time of 10:15.83 to wrap up a stellar freshman campaign with a second team All-America award. Clark was named the Pac-12’s Female Freshman of the Year after winning the steeplechase and taking second in the 5,000 last May.

Junior Abrianna Torres finished her season with a 20th place finish in the heptathlon. She recorded 5,483 points in her first ever appearance at the national meet.
