Should we be concerned about ESPN influencing gambling lines?

I recall specifically going to Universal with my kids just so I could drink. Definitely no alcohol in the Magic Kingdom 15 years ago.
Epcot has had it since it opened. The magic kingdom might still be alcohol free. All the resorts allow it. I was thinking about the movies and cartoons which occasionally show it.

Huh? When has Disney been anti-drinking?
Since inception of Disney Land. The story I was told was that when Disney Land opened originally, it was at a time when amusement parks had a reputation of being a bit sketchy, and where people would go and tie one on at night. Walt Disney wanted Disney Land to be family and kid friendly, so he made a no alcohol rule. It wasn’t until relatively recently that the parks loosened these rules.

It makes sense given their recent growth in coverage of fantasy sports, especially football. They already had shows where fantasy experts would compare projections with betting line experts. They were previously in bed with DraftKings.

Curious to see if this will work when the same idea done by Barstool failed after someone bet $500M on acquiring that business & brand. Later sold it back to the Barstool founder for $0.

Should we be concerned? Yes. If we have learned anything from this recent wave of conference movement, it’s that ESPN (and the other networks to a lesser degree) are in control. If Alabama losing to Ole Miss would be bad for business, you can rest assured Alabama will beat Ole Miss (but maybe on a last minute drive, just to keep it fun).

Magic Kingdom used to be boozeless - not anymore

It is so damn expensive to go to Disneyland, no one is going there just to tie one on.

So they've got that going for them.

Barstool, while emerging and loud, key word being loud, does not have the same marketing reach of ESPN. Not even close. It's not a guarantee, but the ESPN brand, while shrinking in influece, blows Barstool's brand out of the water.
