If Golden isn't realistic, Doeren/Dykes are my two favorites. Great recruiting connections and a great football mind.
Would be nice.
I'm leaning towards that too along with Butch Jones. He coached with Leach and Holosgrom.
A player like Espy would have been awesome under Dykes. It would be easier to succeed with Colorado kids in an offensive scheme like that. Having Peyton Manning in Denver could indirectly create excitement for that style of football at CU.
He would also have that Texas connection and IMHO, Texas kids > Cali kids.
He has a father who coached at Tech in the early days of the Big 12 and someone to lean on...I don't think McCartney will be filling that role for CU anytime soon given his outbursts. Tech and CU share some of the same characterstics when it comes to football.
I've cooled big time on Dykes. We'd score a ton of points with him, but his offense isn't conducive to decent defense. Look at all of the shootouts he's winning in the WAC this year.
Dykes has emerged as one of the 2 front-runners for the NC State job
Yeah, Leach and Holgorson are not that impressive to me. They score a **** ton of points, but their teams are usually average.
Has already interviewed for the Cal job:
Brandon Dunn @BrandonDunnNBC6 We can confirm that Sonny Dykes has interviewed for the Cal job. This coming from our source in Ruston. #Latech
Still hoping for Dykes to come to Boulder but with Cal and those JUCOs, that would be hard to pass up.
He does like the Pac 12 according to his dad:
So if he doesn't get the Cal job we'd have a good shot w/ him if we did want him.
