February 7th – Only 4 1/2 weeks until the start of spring practice!
Spring Practice Dates
Spring practice, 2011, will begin on Friday, March 11th, and end with the first-ever night Spring game on Saturday, April 9th.
The team is allowed 15 practices over 29 days. The tentative dates are: March 11-12-14-15-16-17 … Spring break … March 28-29-31; April 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 9th.
Practice sessions will include three practices (no contact), four in pads (no tackling), four in pads (tackling allowed 50 percent or less of the time), and four in pads (with tackling allowed throughout).
Spring Practice Injury Report
Four players who had off-season surgery, and will not be able to participate in spring practice. Senior tight end/offensive lineman Matt Bahr had shoulder surgery, as did fellow senior offensive lineman Blake Behrens. Two other offensive linemen had off-season knee surgery, center Mike Iltis and sophomore Max Tuioti-Mariner.
Three other players may be able to play, but their status remains undecided. Junior defensive back Vince Ewing torn an ACL in fall practice, and is still not a full go. Sophomore defensive back Parker Orms, injured in the first quarter of the CSU game, is also still on the mend from his knee surgery.* The third defensive back to be injured last fall, senior Anthony Perkins, may also be limited or held out of spring practice.
Four other Buffs suffered injuries last fall, but are a “Full Go” for spring practice: Senior offensive lineman Shawn Daniels has recovered from foot surgery; quarterback Tyler Hansen has recovered from a ruptured spleen suffered in the Texas Tech game; senior tailback Brian Lockridge had ankle surgery on October 15th but has fully recovered; and junior linebacker Jon Major has been rehabbing a sprained knee without surgery.
Position changes
To date, only two players are known to be switching positions this fall, as senior linebackers Tyler Ahles and Evan Harrington are going to spend their senior seasons on the other side of the ball, giving Colorado a new pair of fullbacks in the lineup.
