Taking the temperature of Allbuffs on CU athletics

Exactly what makes people more excited about Mac since when he was hired? It certainly couldn't be his recruiting thus far. He seems like just about the nicest most likable human being possible and I'd love for him to be my next door neighbor but that's about the only positive impression he's made on me so far, granted he's yet to coach a game.

To me he has shown impressive organization and process which are keys to restructuring any team or company. It is only one data point but it is one more than when he was hired...and certainly something that the previous staff did not have. I might not go so far as to say more excited...but I will go with encouraged.

outside of basketball, it was getting close to absolute 0. hopefully, it's starting to come back towards something livable.

1. Compared to where you were in December, are you feeling more, less or about the same level of confidence about the 2013 season?

No Question this coaching staff has demonstrated success and worked together in a similar situation. That is fact. The last staff although I was rooting for their success, was inexperienced and non cohesive working together. I am substantially more optimistic about the potential for 2013 and beyond given the track record of this staff.

2. Compared to where you were when Mike MacIntyre was hired, are you feeling more, less or about the same level of confidence for the longer-term prospects of the football program?

See above. Much better and more optimistic.

3. Compared to where you were when Mike Bohn was fired, are you feeling more, less or about the same level of confidence for the future of the Athletic Department & facilities projects with Rick George taking over next month?

Bohn did not even speak with Mac II till after we got dumped (per quote from Mac II). As I recall Tad was not even first choice of Bohn. In any event I really like this hire given experience and association with past success at CU. Pac 12 involvement has also raised focus and urgency from my view on the part of many both within, and adjacent to the Athletic dept. More optimistic.

4. Compared to... hell, any time in the past 10 years, are you feeling more, less or about the same level of confidence in the CU administration to support athletics so that fans of CU football and other sports will be celebrating championships?

Very tough category, and perhaps the most difficult to turn in the right direction will be fan support. I believe this staff is going to show better than expected (say 4-5 win potential and more competitive on the field) progress in 2013. I am less confident how long it takes for fan support to turn in the right direction. Hoping it is sooner rather than later.... Mac II was the guy I wanted so if that turns out stale I will be guilty of picking the wrong guy. I will take my chances.

On all of these, I've got to say, I'm confident for the first time in a long time and am actually excited. Being a CU fan is becoming fun again.[/QUOTE]

Me too! Kool Aid or not I am feeling good about things.....

I am more positive in response to all your questions, but my judgement is clouded by our constant and consistent failure every single year. I just do not have the ability to think entirely positive at this point until I see results, both on the field and in the AD. I am not buying into stories, hope and fluff pieces anymore. Show me.

But we just landed a football transfer

1. Same
2. Too soon for me to say.
3. Slightly More
4. Way Less

I'm not expecting much when it comes to Ws and Ls. It's too soon to say about MacIntyre and how CU football will be like down the road. Getting George will simply genernate excitement but we shall see how that translates down the road. And I never had much confidence in the adminstration to begin with.

I like the changes I have seen so far and more optimistic on all 4 points. Everything I have read or heard from MMac makes me want to fast forward 3 years to see where we will be. I am pretty sure the football program will be getting back on track and making significant strides.

Rick George is a good, no, very good hire. This move makes me believe that Benson is ready to get the job done in Boulder and I cannot wait until he starts laying out his vision and plan for the department.

I am a professional Kool Aid drinker so it means nothing but I feel like we may actually have the folks in place to lay out and execute a plan that will deliver success.
