PALO ALTO, Calif. – Less than 24 hours after opening Pac-12 Conference play at No. 7 California, the University of Colorado women’s tennis team found itself on the short end falling 6-1 to the Stanford Cardinal, Saturday afternoon.

The Buffaloes have now lost three of their last four matches, dropping to 9-4 overall and 0-2 in the Pac-12 play. The Cardinal blanked Utah, 7-0 on Friday and improves to 9-2 overall, 2-0 in the conference.

“We battled today,” said CU head coach Nicole Kenneally. “But whenever you play a tough team like this it’s definitely an experience to learn from. We are just going to take everything we can learn from the experience’s this weekend and get home, healthy and ready for our next 5 conference matches which are at home.”

Another tough loss, but taking a game from Stanford is still good. Fortunately for the Buffs, they will get a break as they have a legitimate chance of winning the next 6 matches against Arizona, Arizona State, Washington, Oregon, Washington State and Denver before they travel to LA to face two potential top 10 LA schools.
