LONG BEACH, Calif. - Day three of the Long Beach State Winter Invitational wrapped up Sunday with the University of Colorado women's tennis team winning three singles and one doubles matches. CU secured a doubles victory with freshman Dhany Quevedo and junior Carla Manzi Tenorio winning their second match in three chances over the weekend defeating New Mexico's Kristin Eggleston and Maria Sablina, 9-8 (7-1).

The Buffs went 1-2 on the day against the Lobos.

In singles, CU faced off against Nevada going 3-4 during afternoon play winning all three matches in straight sets.

Manzi Tenorio made it three-for-three on the singles court winning for the third time in three days defeating Monika Magusiak, 6-0, 6-1. Manzi Tenorio leads the team in singles victories and has now won six matches in 10 chances this year.

Quevedo picked up her second win in three matches from the weekend defeating Sophie Stevens, 6-1, 7-6 (7-4).

Junior Mattison Sperry, who also won in straight sets and defeated Rymma Maslova, 6-2, 6-0. It was Sperry's first win over the weekend and third time this year.

"Overall we had a solid weekend of tennis with a great format to get the cobwebs out in match situations before starting dual match play next week against Air Force," said CU tennis head coach Nicole Kenneally. "We'll take Monday off and concentrate spending time on doubles and sharpening our singles play."

The LBSU Invitational was the last tune up for CU before dual play officially begins next week. The Buffs will travel to the United States Air Force Academy next Sunday, Jan. 27 beginning at 3 p.m.

CU will then return home and open the spring campaign in Boulder on Feb. 2 against Stephen F. Austin (11 a.m.) and Northern Colorado on Feb. 3 (10 a.m.). Both home matches will be played at the Millennium Hotel Harvest House bubble.
