CSU a brick game? Seriously?
First win of the new regime. Still pretty lame for a brick.
is the wall like the front 9 at Augusta used to be.....no camera?
In 20 years when you look back at this game as the first win for the greatest CU coach of all time you will agree that it is a brick game.
I think it is good to honor Embree's first win, just as long as future csu wins aren't bricks
I'm just glad that it's the CSU game then - I'd hate the first brick to have Washington State's name on it. CSU & Wazzu both suck but at least we have that whole in-state rivalry thing with them. Plus, I think it's pretty cool that Embree's first win as a player & a coach was against CSU. He's from Colorado - he gets that we need to be beating them every year (and not be worried about it) for us to take a major step forward in getting back to respectability.
That's how I looked at it. First win of the Embree era. From here on out, bricks should be for milestone wins (like breaking the road losing streak), taking down highly ranked teams, winning championships, or to commemorate a special game like maybe one being dedicated to someone who got elected to the HOF or something.
Im happy to see Embree get his first win yet sad to see more proof of how far this program has fallen.
Happy to see the Buffs win, glad to see Embo get his first W as a coach. But a brick? I don't think so...if, and only if, CSewe were ranked maybe, but to give a brick to a win over some weak conference also ran really makes the whole brick thing kind of a joke IMO.
Would first Pac-12 win vs. Wazzu be brick-worthy? First Pac-12 win is a milestone in my book.
If they get a brick for beating a crummy goat team, I can't imagine how they wouldn't get a brick for any win. This has a juice box and orange slice for everyone feel to it.
Or beating NCAA sanctioned teams on the road in Ohio, or at home on Friday nights.
You people need to relax
I'd be ok with that if they decide to go that direction. Honestly, I'm not going to question any brick/no brick decision from this staff. It's not like it's the HaLkins regime. If Jon Embree, Eric Bieniemy, Brian Cabral, Kanavis McGhee and others who are running the show these days and have deep CU football roots decide that a game is "brick worthy", who the **** am I to argue?
That's right, you should just leave it to me...
Especially as hardly anyone knew what the bricks were until Embree brought it up when he was hired ...
Let's be honest. The brick thing was a motivational ploy for Hawaii that didn't pan out. Seems to me that it's best to bring back the bricks now and just move on rather than let the brick thing hang over the program. Nothing to see here, folks.
The CSU win was a brick game. Beat Ohio State, brick. There are a few other games this season to warrant it. Lighten up, people.
Yes to all, and I would add that former players and/or coaches who won brick games in the past might have a legitimate voice to question the 'brickiness' of any certain game - but fans shouldn't take that liberty. Any former brick winners would also seem to have a much more direct means to voice their concerns than in a fan forum.
So to the current players and coaches - congratulations! Job well done in getting all the old bricks back; now go get a few more this season!
Who says there are people behind all these written words of glee (and gleeb)?
I agree, let's talk uniforms!!
What do our younger fans think about large, block lettering as opposed to some of the new fonts being put out by Under Armour and Nike?
Ohio State is definitely a brick game, cause if we win it, I'm going to **** one.
I think it´s cool for the older people who may not have very good eyes anymore.
We have the best font of all time and it should never be touched.
Agreed. Can you imagine what the team must be feeling right now to have this tradition of CU brought back to life by the 2011 Buffs? Way to motivate Jon. Look out OSU!
Ohio State at the Shoe is a "brick game"....a scalp anyone wants. even if they are in disarray. CSU being a brick game is what complicates that...imo...since it seems like every game is a brick game.
I think the first W, whenever it happened, would have been a brick game. Similarly, the first true road win will be a brick game regardless of the opponent. In my opinion, the remaining brick games are at tOSU, UO, at Stanford, USC and maybe at ASU (depending on how good ASU looks at the time). Utah could become a brick game in the future if it develops into a rivalry. Bottom line, the coaches are in a much better position to decide what constitutes a brick game than any of us.
As for uniforms, I'd love it if we stuck with the current uniforms without any changes for all but one game a year. For one game it would be fun to experiment as long as it's not overboard.
