Things to do in Burque

Any thoughts on golf down there? Might be trying to get 9 or 18 in on Friday morning someplace.

I think the course at the Santa Ana Pueblo (north of Albuquerque) is supposed to be really good. Near the university, the UNM south course is good. There's a public course between the airport and the university (Puerto del Sol) but it's nothing special.

The other pueblo courses (Sandia and Isleta) are good as well. Casino money never hurts.

The dam 9 at Arroyo Del Oso is one of my favorites (municpal wise). Arroyo Del Oso is a pretty good public course (the 18 hole variety).

How much are you willing to spend and what is your handicap? Some of the casino courses are great, really damn hard and pricey to match, but they are gorgeous.

LOL I was wondering when someone was going to mention that. TD's North is the best place in town and it's only $10/dance. They just opened up a new place called "The Palms" near it. I haven't been there since it's been a long time since I've gone. I would imagine dances are about the same.

Really? A strip club called "The Palms". Genius in my opinion.

I'm not good enough to have a handicap, and I'm cheap so Arroyo Del Oso sounds like a winner to me!

The entire course is pretty nice and has a great backdrop with the mountains. Spots for the dam 9 are first come, first served, but you can call and reserve a spot for the regular course.

http://www.cabq.gov/golf/arroyo-del-oso-golf-course has the prices. $22.50 for 18, $16.50 for 9 and for a cart $25 and $14, respectively. They also have push carts if you want to do that; I've never liked golf carts as they take away from the feel.

Let me know what you think :)

Whats the cheapest of the close hotels?

Cant say anything about the cheapest, only the area. Don't keep anything of value in sight of your car at a place near UNM. Take it with you inside the room, even if it's just a dollar on the floor. I'm serious. Shoot me 3 places and I'll pick the "safest" one for you.

Im actually going with CUnit now I think were staying at the embassy suites. Just a rumor though. Im sure they'll be concerned with taking us to a safe hotel.

Embassy suites are nice and in a good location. Hopefully it's the one near uptown! That'd make for easier access to the city by bus

I guess you can text in Burqe, as long as you don't show too much ankle (just in case my joke was lost the first time).

Call starting tomrrow to reserve a spot. There are a lot of retirees around here and it can be difficult to get a spot there, even during the week.

Actually, a buddy I'm going down there with already got tee times for us at Santa Ana for Friday morning (9:30ish), so we should be all set. Thanks for the info, though!

That's supposed to be in impressive course. Great views of the Sandia mountains from out there. Enjoy.

I am sure it's the one at I-25 and Lomas (is there another in Albuquerque now?). It's a very nice hotel but not a lot that's within walking distance from there. By not a lot, I more-or-less mean nothing. You can walk to Marble Brewery (which is really good) but it's not the best neighborhood in the world.

Luckily I have a bunch of friends driving down there so I'll have access to a car.

Bring plenty of extra balls. If you whiff on your drive your balls will be lost in shrub. It's about 80-100 yards from the tee to the fairway. Wonderful course though, but expect a lot of cursing, haha.

Hey NMbuff would you strongly advise against staying in the motel 6 Albuquerque South-Airport? We're broke students so we don't really care about sleeping conditions and its less than a mile away from the stadium. I guess we just care about cheapness, proximity and there being any semblance of a nightlife near by...

You are not taking your life into your hands there but there is no nightlife around either. I wouldn't walk on the other side of the interstate from the motel.

Not sure how much you are paying there but I'd try the Plaza bit further up the freeway instead. It's near the Embassy Suites where the C-Unit is staying and a bit nicer location. It's further from the stadium, however.

It's a pretty sketchy area. Not too bad, but not great either. I know someone would ask about that motel is always super cheap (I've seen $39/night). The Plaza Inn is nice and within walking distance, if not a bit far from downtown as well. Don't leave your valuables in your car and it'd be about $10 to/from downtown.

Then there's the places off of Central and (around) 1st. Really busy area so if you want some shuteye then it may not be your best bet and it's pretty damn sketchy (but near some really nice stuff), but it's near downtown Albuquerque. There's also the hotel blue (off of a google search) that's near downtown as well, but on the other side.

As far as driving and parking it's not that bad here. You could find a place to park on the east side and walk 10-15min to the pitt for free.

Went to Anodyne last night. Its got like 10 full sized pool tables and real cheap drinks. Overall great vibe I would definitely say you should check it out if you're down town. Thanks for the heads up
