this could have been a great season

Yes. There will come a time (next season) where the close wins need to remain close wins and at least half of these close Pac 12 losses need to be turned into wins or another coaching staff will get an opportunity.

I'm sure most everybody is tired of the "Lose Big, Lose Small, Win Small, Win Big" phrase, but I think it is relevant to this program and sometimes it just takes longer than fans would like it to.
Then why talk about what could have been this season if it's not really important now? The standard for this season, in retrospect, appears to be some close loses.
 
I'm wathcing the replay of USC CU right now.
If anybody watches this and thinks we don't desrve to be on the same field as these teams, they're not watching the same games I am.

Because what could have been is the 3rd phase of the "rebuilding process" by "winning small". Couldn't quite get over that hump this year, and we remain stuck in phase 2.
