Facing a fourth-and-12 at Missouri's 22-yard line, Hawkins was sacked by Missouri's Kip Edwards to keep the shutout intact.
But on the next drive, Missouri's Blaine Gabbert stayed on the bench in favor of backup James Franklin. Gabbert took a big hit late in the first half, but had remained on the field since.
Franklin completed his first two passes, the second in the direction of Michael Egnew for Egnew's second touchdown of the day, putting Missouri up 26-0.
He set that up with a 34-yard run down to the Colorado 10-yard line.
Hawkins is 3-of-6 for 18 yards, but expect Franklin to do a lot of handing off over the game's final 10 minutes.
