Time for 2013 season predictions (prepare to be mocked later)

How many QB's have we redshirted in the past 10 years that have flopped 3 years later? We've invested too much in the unproductive years of a QB without ever assessing if the QB can play or not. Dillon, Hirshman, Shrock, Ballenger ... list goes on.

Yeah, not throwing Hirschman and Schrock in as true freshman was exactly what we've been missing these last few years. We've missed out on some serious potential. A guy riding pine at the worst school in the MAC, a walk-on who quit football, and a guy riding the bench in basketball for a mid-major program. Throwing them in as true frosh was exactly the recipe we missed out on. Just curious, would you like to be applying your curiosity of "see if they can play or not" to other positions as well? Is that the missing link on the OL to you?

1-11 with the win coming against UCA. If we get a second win it will be against some free falling Pac 12 team with a lousy defense towards the end of the season.

Offsense improves big-time to 28 points/game.
Most surprising player: DD Goodson.
Most disappointing player: Christian Powell.
Bold Prediction: Connor Wood finishes with a YPA in the top 6 among QB's in the Pac.

Defense improves to 37 points/game. Horrendous run D negates solid pass D.
Most surprising player: John Walker.
Most disappointing player: Derrick Webb.
Bold Prediction: 10+ INT's this season.

Final bold prediction: Buffs play USC into OT, catalyzing a Trojan collapse that leads to Kiffin being canned at the end of the season.
28 ppg? No way. We haven't averaged that many points in forever. We'd certainly win more than 1 game if we did too.

Season record: 6-6

CSU: 34-24 W
Central Arkansas: 23-21 W (CA is solid on D)
Fresno State: 40-42 L

Cal: 44-42 W
USC: 20-17 W
@ Utah: 31-24 W

Offense
Most surprising player: DD Goodson
Most disappointing player: Tony Jones
Bold prediction: Abron takes over most duties for Powell as our OL is generally ineffective in creating holes for RBs. Abron proves himself a better ball catcher and a serviceable blocker when called on. Our running game because the quick pass/screen game. Powell becomes more effective later in the season running the ball as the line jells and the weather gets colder.

Defense
Most surprising player: K Crawley
Most disappointing player: Poston
Bold prediction: D finishes the season with at least 10 picks. The first of which comes when Crawley goes pick 6 against the lambs.

Other
The USC game is going to be a sloppy snow-bowl thus evening the pitch and a allowing for a bowl eligible season.

Stanford and Oregon will fall down at some point and neither will play for the NC. This Coach Mac wins P12 CoY honors.

That is about as good as I can come up with because a L against CSU could mean 0-12.

I'll be the one to say it: the quicker Wood proves he can't play the better. He ain't it. Move on to Sefo or Webb ASAP, then wait for Tad's season.

1-11.

Short of every other QB on the team being injured, I hope they redshirt Sefo at all costs. I would rather go 0-12 than burn Sefo's redshirt.

Offense
Most Surprising Player: D.D. Goodson (~50 receptions)
Most Disappointing Player: Nembot and Powell
Bold Prediction: Powell isn't our leading rusher. Also PRich has 5 TD's of 50 yards or more

Defense
Most Surprising Player: Chidobe Awuzie and Tupou
Most Disappointing Player: Kenneth Crawley (still gets beat and picked on due to Hendo)
Bold Prediction: One of the DB's approaches 5 INT's and CUD is very close to double digit sacks, if not over. Pass-D is much improved but run-D is awful (mostly due to LB's).

Other
I agree the staff gets reassembled this offseason. Adams to TE/ST and we hire an RB coach. Neinas pushed out and LaRussa tag-teams ST's with Adams. Also we finally like our OC for once. I predict a ton of fighting about our staff. Some saying to be patient and others bitching about the SJSU staff. Wood looks ok. OL is awful. Nembot gives up at least 5 sacks. Sefo's RS is burned, and he looks competent giving us hope for the future. Due to the OL we pass the ball significantly more, inflating Wood's stats.

As for the defense, we finally look like we know what we're doing. Defense is better and gives up 10 less pts/game, but we still don't have the horses. Tupou pushes for at least honorable mention Pac-12 and emerges as a future dominant DT. Crawley gets burned but Awuzie is a future star at CB, he also starts at CB over Crawley multiple games.

Coaches close out recruiting with no real notable recruits (zero 4*'s) and maybe one 5.7rr type guy. Lots of bitching here. Record doesn't look good but there's tangible hope for the future. George announces facilities to begin in 2015

Half-way there:slayer:

**** it - 12-0! No, no, not really. 3-9 with a hope for 4 wins and being more compeitive and well coached this year.

6-6. This is the best it could possibly get, and probably the only way we get there. Build a little confidence early in the season, and then pick off a couple teams that are in turmoil at the end. Kiffin might be gone when they get here. I'm pumping that sunshine, hard.

Offense
Most surprising player: DD Goodson - Speedy guy in the slot who will cause matchup problems against LB's.
Most disappointing player: Powell - I could see a sophomore slump here unfortunately
Bold prediction: Wood finishes in top half of conference in most statistical categories with a 3:1 TD to INT ratio.

Defense
Most surprising player: Addison Gillam - Freshman All American
Most disappointing player: Parker Orms - Injuries plague entire CU career and he does not contribute much this year (makes room for Tedric Thompson to get some PT)
Bold prediction: 30+ turnovers this year. Doubling last years total

We have a finalist for a national award (Early candidates are D. O'Neill and CUD)
Buffs win their bowl game - 7-6 overall record. We sign a top 25 class with a strong showing on NSD.

It's the beginning of the season so why not be hopeful/unrealistic/delusional? Odds are I'll probably have most of the fall to cry in my beer so I'm going to enjoy this now.

7-6 and with a minor bowl appearance and win.

To be disappointed, don't you have to have expectations first? Personally, I have none for this group.

2-10 "Losing but mean in 2013"

The team is still learning to crawl and practicing fundamentals. I don't see us being competitive with most of the teams on the schedule. Injuries set us back early and put us behind the 8 ball. We get scrappier as the season progresses, keeping it close against UW and Cal, losing a nail biter to SC and then finishing strong with a win at Utah.
