USC will be hosting the Pac-12 Multi-Events Championships on May 4-5 at Loker Stadium, beginning two huge weekends of track and field on campus, as the Trojans will host the remaining 20 events of the Pac-12 Track and Field Championships on May 11-12. Action on May 4 begins at noon and on May 5 at 11 a.m.
This year there will be 13 men and 10 women from the conference's 12 schools represented in the multi-events championships. The decathlon will see Pac-12 males square off in the 100m dash, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400m dash on the first day and then the 110 HH, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw and 1500m race on Sunday. The women will compete in the 100m hurldes, high jump, shot put and 200m dash on Saturday and the long jump, javelin throw and 800m on Sunday.
USC will have junior Viktor Fajoyomi and sophomore Jemal Williams entered in the decathlon and sophomore Kiana Henry in the heptathlon. Fajoyomi competed in his first decathlon as a Trojan this season on March 28-29 at California and won the Cal Multi-Events Championships with a two-day score of 7,078. That total is just 20 points outside the Trojans' all-time top 10 in the event.
Williams also had a strong Cal Multi-Event Championship, taking fourth place with a PR of 6,417 points, 229 points more than he scored when he totaled 6,188 at the 2012 conference meet. During the Cal Multi-Events meet Williams notched five personal bests.
Henry also competed in her first heptathlon at USC at the Cal Multi-Events Championship and finished in 13th place with a two-day total of 3,985 points. She posted four season-best marks and one PR in the competition.
This weekend's meet counts as one of 21 scored events in the Pac-12 Track and Field team championship race with the winner of each event earning 10 points for his or her school. The scoring will go eight places deep with the scoring system in descending order of: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.
