Don't see a cubuffs preview article, so wanted to mention the track and field teams are at the U. of Arkansas (I believe spriters and jumpers) and U. of Washington (distance runners and throwers) today and tomorrow for their main "regular season" indoor meets of the season. This will be the only time during the indoor season they face off against top athletes from outside the Rocky Mountain region until the conference meet. (The (MPSF) conference meet, also in Seattle, is in ~2 weeks, and NCAA's start on March 10th at College Station.)

(Looks like action starts at 4:00 Pacific Time today and 10:00 tomorrow.)

(Was interested to see how the 4 Buffs who ran very fast times in the mile at CU last week (Saarel, Klecker and Perrin on the men's side, Jones on the women's) might do in that event at sea level, but looks like they are all instead running in the 3K races, I assume trying to add qualifying times at that distance since I believe Coash Wetmore said they'd already qualified in the mile off last week's times.)

SEATTLE, WASH. — University of Colorado sophomore John Dressel opened the weekend by posting the fifth fastest NCAA 5,000-meter run time of the season, turning in a performance of 13:42.57 on the first day of the Husky Classic here Friday night at the University of Washington.

And to finish off a busy day in Olympic Sports, we have the track and field teams checking in, with some nice performances in Seattle, and a few earning times that move them WAY UP the CU record book!

Among other things, never having been an athlete, always amazed by the toughness many/ most have in EVERY sport. From the article -

NOTABLE: HERO OF THE MEET
"The hero of the day was Zach Perrin," head coach Mark, Wetmore said. "Although he didn't run as fast as he hoped to in the 3,000 meters he did it with a broken arm. He tripped at the start of the race; fell very hard, they called the race back. I asked him if he was okay, he replied no, but he wanted to race. He ended up running a very fast time today with a broken arm."

Zach Perrin placed sixth in the elite field in the 3,000 meters with a time of 7:55.68. This time is a PR for him by more than 15 seconds.
