The Buffs look to go 4-0 at their Omni Invitational Tournament as they host the Air Force Academy Falcons this evening at Coors, with opening serve scheduled for ~7:00 PM. Air Force has also won all three matches it's played in this tournament (all played at Air Force), so they look to be the toughest competition for the Buffs this weekend.

About the Falcons (from cubuffs.com tournament preview article- http://www.cubuffs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=210350332&DB_OEM_ID=600, written before this tournament started, so the Falcon's record is are now up to 7-7):

Air Force enters the weekend with a 4-7 record, but has won three of its last four matches. CU is the third Pac-12 team the Falcons will face this season and they are already 1-1 against the league. AFA was swept by No. 10 Arizona State during the opening week of the season and just last weekend, the Falcons defeated California in five sets. Akokwe Clement is the team’s top attacker, averaging 3.98 kills per set; she also adds 0.39 service aces per set. As a team, the Falcons are attacking at a .197 clip, while their opponents are hitting .244. On defense, Rebecca Bates is averaging 3.34 digs per set and at the net, Taylor Parker is posting 0.98 blocks per set.

Match starting soon.

Random thoughts:
Good to see the band is here for the 2nd straight match.

Somehow seems like volleyball season is REALLY starting when Chris Marlowe is announcing a match.

I see both freshmen Taylor Joachim and Zuri Smith warming up with the team, but neither have played in a match yet. Assume the plan may be to red shirt both (barring injuries to existing players)?

Inadvertent whistle says the official. Point is being played over. Back to 22-18

Now 23-18 so that worked.

AFA calling time out to discuss with officials.

So many service errors. One of these matches, it's going to cost them.

AFA cuts it to 6-4

I have so much respect for the Air Force Academy players. It's such an honor to get in to the Academy and they have other responsibility besides classes and volleyball.

Long day for the Buffs. Announcers said they had a 5:30 AM wake up call.

Set 2 goes to the Buffs 25-18

Definitely looks to me like a very good workmanlike effort so far. Defense has seemed as good as I've seen it this year.

What are the Buffs doing? Finally Gabby gets a kill to stop the AFA run and it's 17-14

Congrats to Gabby Simpson for being named tournament MVP, and for Naghede Abu and Nicole Edelman being named to All-Tournament team for the Buffs.
