So, the volleyball team needs to come back from what I'm sure was a draining 5 set loss to top ranked USC for a Sunday matinee against the Bruins, with a win still constituting a great weekend for the Buffs.

Promotions/ extras for this match (from the article linked to below)-

State Farm is the sponsor of Sunday’s contest against UCLA. Fans can get free tickets by visiting local State Farm agents. State Farm will be on hand with giveaways and raffle prizes to be given out throughout the match. More information can be found at CUBuffs.com/StateFarm.

The Buffs will also host a free post-match clinic for fans 12 and younger after Sunday’s match versus the Bruins. Fans can RSVP by e-mailing CUPromos@colorado.edu.

UCLA is ranked 12th in the latest AVCA poll. The Bruins are 11-3 overall (2-2 Pac-12) and are 5-0 on the road. They will face Utah on Friday before playing the Buffs on Sunday.

Jordan Larson is UCLA’s leading attacker with 4.80 kills per set, which is sixth in the nation. Reily Buechler is second on the team with 3.16 kills per set. Claire Felix is attacking at a .347 clip, while the rest of the team is averaging a .232 hitting percentage. Zana Muno is recording 9.43 assists per set, which is sixth in the conference.

Defensively, the Bruins are led by Taylor Formico’s 3.80 digs per set (sixth in the Pac-12). Muno adds 2.97 digs per set. Jennie Frager is eighth in the conference with 1.27 blocks per set. That total also ranks 22nd in the nation.

UCLA leads the all-time series 8-2.
"
Note- yesterday, the Bruins bounced back from a tough 17-25 1st set loss against the Utah +Utes to win convincingly in 4 sets by -12 -15 and -16 scores, so are now 3-2 in Pac 12 play.

Live video- on Pac 12 networks (National, Mountain and Los Angeles channels), and also available online at http://pac-12.com/live?network=P12MTN for those whose cable/ satellite subscription includes Pac 12 Network online access .

20-21. TO CU. (A couple misses on kill attempts. Also a bad call against the Buffs at a point when they could have taken a pretty commanding lead.)

UCLA gets the 1st 26-24. Although a close set, a little worried about this one as both of the big Buff attackers don't seem as sharp as normal. (Still fatigued after all their kill attempts Friday night?) On the plus side, the defense seems to be improving match to match, with C. Simpson and A. D'Agosta handling some really tough shots so far today (in addition to Friday night).

0-5. TO CU

Buffs get screwed on another call (phantom touch). (Note- I believe there's some experimenting (I believe in the Big 10?) with video replay by officials. After today, I'm all for it..)

Well, the Buffs have been playing even with the Bruins late in the set, but unfortunately it was after they went down 1-8. 14-23. TO CU.

8-12. TO CU. Haven't mentioned before, but UCLA is very good. They're playing great defense, with great passing leading to a plethora of offensive options leading to ridiculous hitting %'s

14-19. TO CU. Buffs had a nice rally to get within (I believe) 1 at 13-14, but the Bruins have obviously responded since.

And UCLA completes the sweep 19-25.

Again, seems like the Buffs may just not have had enough emotional energy left after Friday night, as almost everything seemed just a little off. (Of course, if the refs hadn't blown the call in the 1st set which probably cost the Buffs that set, who knows how different it might have been. Although, as with all sports, "you need to play better than the refs ref".)

Yes, the Big 1G is using instant replay this year. I have watched some matches and seen calls overturned.
