Where do the Buffs go in the NFL Draft?

Who makes it into the draft and who goes what round?

Dizon - Can he push himself up to the 2nd or 3rd, or does he stay a late round pick due to his size?

Wheatley - Can he showcase his talent and move up in a draft weak at CB?

Charles - Does he make a late round pick, or does he fall off the board?

Who else makes it?

IMO-
Dizon- Probably a mid-to late draft pick but he will make one lucky team happy
Wheatley- It's a relatively weak CB class but imo he is a third or fourth rounder
Charles- Maybe he is a surprise like Ahmad Bradshaw with NYG but he will be lucky to be a six or seventh rounder. His combine statistics would be amazing if he would have been asked to the Combine
Polumbus- He's a monster, he could be a late rounder but probably a UFA.

That seems to be the players with the best chances to be drafted imo.

I'm not sure how a Butkus finalist can slip past round 3, frankly. Jordon is a tackling machine.

Because he's small. In the NFL, it's all about how a player fits into a defensive system. Very few teams utilize undersized LBs, Denver and Indy being two notable exceptions.

It really doesn't matter where he gets drafted (and he will get drafted), he is going to have to make his mark on special teams to make a NFL roster.

Agreed... what about moving him to a John Lynch like safety?

You guys have to consider Hugh is a stud Long Jumper in track... His scores have given him an opportunity to be a replacement in the olympic trials.

He's not quick enough to play safety in the nfl is he?

I think it's possible he could move to safety in the NFL, but it would be at strong safety. He is not blazing fast, but he is very fluid in his movement. I think the team that drafts him will look at him at LB first.

I have said it before and I will say it again-I would love to see the Broncos draft him late if he's available because he could help their special teams right away.

Woody Paige agrees with you

Dunno if thats a good thing or not but he wants Dizon in Denver atleast

He could definetly help on Special Teams, no doubt about that. He might also turn into a sleeper.

I know you normally bring in a DB for a Nickel package, but perhaps he could be used in a hybrid Nickel/4-3? Providing a little more speed then a normal LB, while providing a bit more power and run support then a DB?

Or maybe that would be the opposite and he would be to slow or two weak to be effective...

I hope we land some of them, at least one... Local guys do okay here in Denver because fans love them... Hell, they sold tons of BVP jerseys and he never took a snap outside preseason.

Dizon - round 4 or 5; some team gets a steal. Size is the issue, but with the training table and work-out facilities some team will figure they can beaf him up.
TWheat - 6th round; senior bowl performance and prior injuries are concerns; could move up with good combine. Might make a ST coach real happy.
Polumbus - UFA; Denver-type OL, not the biggest T but good movement.
Charles - UFA; not an every down back, but could compete for a spot as a 3rd down back and ST player. Speed is his asset, but may prove his undoing - it could mean he goes to the Olympic Trials which may be a negative for nfl teams.
Dusty - unless he can put on 30+ lbs and compete as a TE or H-back, I don't think he'll get a sniff.

Although BVP was a good athlete, he was a joke at Denver. WHere is he now???

Dizon - Late 5th or 6th. Draft sleeper at OLB/rush specialist
TWheat - 4th round
Polumbus - 6th round or FA
Charles - May depend on whether or not he qualifies for the Olympics. Doubt he gets drafted either way.
Dusty - FA

He went to the Texans. He did score a rushing TD in a regular season game on a QB draw. I still hate him.

nobody has mentioned Devree, he might of been our most consistent player on O this year. I dont see him getting drafted but maybe in the 7th, but would be a good Free Agent pickup

Yeah, I see Devree getting drafted before Hugh and maybe even Polumbus. I hope hey all getta chance tho.

You guys really thought Sprague had a shot at the NFL? Or was that a joke I missed out on...

I'm just glad that we didn't have to add The Rabid Goldfish to the list this year... I read some reports after the season that he would have been one of the 1st day DT picks if he had gone.

Have to disagree with you on Charles. The man is a beast and puts up sick numbers in the weight room, but he doesn't push the pile as much as you'd think he would. If he improves his pass blocking and receiving skills he could definitely be a 1st or 2nd down guy that can go slot. He works well in the open field a lot more than he does hitting the hole. I'm hoping he makes the NFL. The guy has some serious speed.

Dizon will be the first Buff off the board. No injury history and his numbers over shadow his size concerns. If Ian Gold can play 10 years in the NFL, so can Dizon.

Wheatley will go in the 3-5 rounds. His abilities are not in question, and if he had not had som many injuries he'd probably be a first day pick. Yep, either a late first or second rounder.

DeVree has showed well this season and played well in another post season all star game. Keep in mind the reason he transferred was to get out of the shadow of some guy named Scheffler at Western Michigan. I think Tyson could get drafted in the 7th round.

Polumbus is another that cold be drafted late on day two, possibly in the 7th. He'd make a great UFA pick up to some team as well.

Charles and Harrison might be UFAs. The rest will not get a look from the league.

True, but that still makes him a specialty player (slot, etc.). He's on the smallish side - teams aren't going to see him as a primary back. He did improve a bunch this year and I'll be rooting for him. I still think he'll be an UFA, but it would be nice to be wrong.

Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh!

Hugh isn't half the player that Bienemy was at the same size and he didn't make a huge splash in the NFL. I really don't see Hugh doing much.
