The MPSF playoffs top seeds have been set with USC, Colorado, USC and Oregon clinching the 4 top bids.

St. Mary's is in last place at 1-11 (0-6) while Cal is in 5th place at 4-10 (2-3).

St. Mary's doesn't have a game ahead of our matchup and then closes with Oregon on Sunday.

Cal plays Stanford today and then plays at Fresno State on Friday before closing with the Buffs.

Buffs are 13-2 (5-1). There's a chance that we end up in a 3-way tie for 1st if Stanford wins at home against USC on Friday. I'm not sure what the tiebreakers are and whether the Buffs have a chance at the 1-seed.

MPSF Conference Championship will be held in Los Angeles next Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

This is the last year for MPSF, with next season being the start of the Pac-12 sponsoring the sport. CU, Cal, Oregon, Stanford and USC will all be leaving the MPSF and Arizona State will launch its program to make 6 teams.

Official Preview article now out for the final 2 regular season games.

A couple other lacrosse notes.
1) As noted in the below tweet, the Buffs look strong in RPI right now at #6 (although I assume the win loss records of these these last 2 regular season opponents will lower it some). I'd assume with that RPI, along with the Top 10 ranking, they should be safely in the 26 team NCAA tournament assuming they keep hungry and finish strong in the next 3 games (last 2 regular season and 1st conference tourney games). Jumping way ahead, assuming they and USC got to the MPSF championship game, and they got revenge against the Trojans (who are only at #19 in RPI but ranked #6/ 8), wonder if they could they still snag a Top 6 NCAA tournament seed, which would mean a 1st round bye and, I believe, hosting honors for round 2?
(For those interested who missed it, I tried to explain and provided links to the NCAA tournament format, schedule, etc., in post #5 of the https://www.allbuffs.com/threads/lacrosse-maintains-4-rank-huge-games-this-week.125726/#post-2201585 thread.)

2) Assume it will be an extra-emotional last 2 games (against the Buffs and then Oregon on Sunday) for 1-11 St. Mary's. In addition to I assume the normal senior day emotions their final game Sunday, the school has decided to downgrade (or as they call it "reclassify") the program to a club sport after this season (http://www.smcgaels.com/ViewArticle...01&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=21400&ATCLID=211555218).
(I have not heard anything as to what the future holds for the other "leftovers" from the MPSF conference (believe Fresno State, UC Davis and Mighty SDSU?) after the Pac 12 forms its own conference starting next season. Can they find more teams to still keep a conference going? Or ???)

The Buffs have this one well in hand. Second half seeing a lot of the reserves getting good playing time. Score currently 21 - 3 at 11:57 to go.

The standings have been updated through the Buffs game. Shortly after, USC beat Stanford so the seeds in the conference tournament should follow the standings below.

Congrats to Coach Elliott on win #50! (Hopefully, though, just a stepping stone to MANY MANY MANY more great accomplishments she'll have as the Buffs' coach!)
