'12 HI DE DeForest Buckner (Signed to Oregon)

It looks like that is our Hawaii weekend. Psalm Wooching is also coming then. Maybe that helps that there's a group coming.

As Snow pointed out, it totally depends on whether he gets burnt out on the process and decides to commit. But if we make it to the 27th with him uncommitted and get the OV, I love our chances.

It was talked about in another thread a couple weeks ago, but what is the actual success rate with the last weekend before signing day? I cannot think of any big time prospects we have brought in that late that we ultimately landed.

I'm just happy we are getting a visit from Buckner if it comes to pass.

I have no idea. Really, though, we'd have to go back to the GB and RN days. Data for us during the HaLkins years doesn't mean much to me.

Maybe I should ask rward the question on Rivals? He's probably love this as a project. :smile2:

Plant the seed!

I like being the last visit. Also like being the last in-home, if possible. Final impressions before the decision and/or announcement.

A few. We'd make room for Buckner whatever the numbers are, I think.

Agree, and if DeJon Wilson is an EE then he would count against last years class easing our numbers a bit. Also, if Buckner says yes they find space for him.

Not sure Buckner ends up playing the same position as Jagne/Stuart/Wilson. Some of those guys might bulk up at play the 5 technique, but some are destined for the rush linebacker spot. Buckner could bulk up and be a hell of a 5 technique imo.

What’s your timetable now moving forward?

“I have (a visit to) Cal next week, I have UCLA on January 13, Utah on January 20 and Colorado on January 27.”

And you’re planning on taking all five of your official visits?

“As of right now, yes I am.”

Hell Yeah!!! Love that we're set up to get the final visit!

Is he still "on" for his visit to you guys? Seems like he wants to check everything out...also seems like a really good player. Thanks in advance for any info.

I feel like he is visiting Colorado simply because cabral's brother is one of his coaches. Never seemed like he is all that into CU but the fact we have tuumalo there should help and there is a big CU connection to punahou. California, Oregon and Washington schools are a bigger connection though....

I don't care why he is visiting, I just hope he does. Just get him here and let the campus, the players, and the staff work their magic.

He is not returning calls to other schools so it sounds as though he did commit to Chip Kelly when he visited a few days ago.
