What's the deal with Daniel Munyer anyway?

It's hard to judge offensive line play, especially in college. In the NFL there's reams and reams of data at your fingertips, but in the NCAA sometimes it's tough to get a hold of for offensive linemen. Still, here's what we know. CU's internal grading gave Munyer very high marks in 2012. According to Phil Steele he was also a mid-season All Pac-12 offensive lineman. Before last season started, Athlon rated him a 3rd team guard in the Pac-12.

So what happened?

I know he was injured last March, but when the season started he was healthy enough to play all 12 games for the second year in a row. I'm no expert, but he didn't seem to play up to his billing this season. Does anyone have any insight as to why? Also, is there any talk about moving him over to center now that Handler is gone? He's only 6'2'' 290 lbs. If he's got any pro aspirations, it seems like center would be where he would stick anyway.

I hope he does move over to center, he's smart, and seems like a capable leader who could make calls at the line.

We already have an offensive line thread, somewhere, I sure. Let's tighten this up please. Mods, could you please move this to some other thread, or maybe ban Skinsfan for his horrific breach? Thanks in advance.

I wanted to respond to this note imbedded in Skinfan's scarlet rep:

This is specific to one player, not a duplicate thread. Sorry for trying to make the board better.

First off, thanks for your attempts to make this board better. It seems, though Allbuffs has risen from obscurity to the number 1 Buffs board on the interwebz, we have nonetheless been waiting for someone like you--a sort of speculative thread-starting messiah with librarian sensibilities.

Maybe you could help me understand thread convention, a little. In a thread that was specific to Jeff Thomas you posted:

Was is necessary to start a new thread on this? There's already a thread discussing the WR position for 2014. No disrespect, but all the best, most respected forums keep it pretty tight and avoid needless clutter. IMO the mods should move this to the Replacing Richardson thread.

So, as I understand it, posts specific to Jeff Thomas should go in the Paul Richardson thread, but individual linemen get their own thread.

Maybe, if you don't have too many important meetings today, you could post some rules which will help us all tighten this place up a little so that we can gain most respected forum status.

Please don't respond directly to this post. I would prefer you started a new thread to address me.

Thanks in advance.

That seems appropriate and mature.

This is the last comment I'll make on the matter because I don't want to drag down productive discussion threads with personal vendettas and nonsense. Grow up.

So...no new thread?

Why do you feel that the discussion surrounding sports by a bunch of 35-year-olds needs to be productive? Isn't the point that it's not productive?

Bitches be throwing out the red rep lately. They don't want to hear anything that may upset the comforting glow of only losing to UCLA by three scores.

Some people read Allbuffs content, others skim content and apparently Orr mastrubates to it.

Well, I had to fill the gap (so to speak) with something when Google ads made us clean up the photos around this chicken**** outfit.

please refer to the gap as a gaping loophole from now on. thank you

Munyer needs to play center and he needs to live up to his potential. OL did well a couple years ago when he was at center, but injuries hit and things got reshuffled.

Well this has taken an unexpected turn.

Point is, Munyer had tons of accolades prior to this season and we never really heard that he was playing well. It's really tough to say because there's not really any stats available (like ProFootballFocus has for example.)

I was just wondering if someone with more expertise than me (pretty much everyone) saw something or could explain if Munyer was hampered by his injury. Anyway, if he moves to center it seems like we'll have upgraded at least one of the 5 positions along the offensive line.

You're dead to me.

I'm going on the assumption that you weren't able to finish your business in this morning's shower and the poison buildup went to your head. Grump mother****er this AM.

Munyer's a better center than Handler.

Problem is, we had maybe 5 OLs who were ready to compete this year and Handler can't play anywhere but center. Munyer also missed most of spring, so he wasn't going to be making the line calls.

OL could shake out a number of ways:

C = Munyer, Crabb or Cotner
G = Munyer, Crabb, Kelley, Irwin or Huckins
T = Nembot, Irwin, Kronshage or Mustoe

Always a chance that another of the redshirts has a big spring. But that's how I think the main names are penciled in right now.

I think I'm pretty consistent in my response when I see someone trying to tighten up the board and make this place more respectable. It happens every six months or so, regardless how much backup I've got going.

Are we notably better with Munyer at center? I;ve watched so much ****ty football i couldn't tell you.

Those threads were better than this thread. So far anyway.

All I know is that one of the main reasons I love Allbuffs is that it isn't respectable or productive.

I thought it was necessary, for the record. While I'm frequently an asshole, it's always (at least in my mind) purposeful.
Not to threadjack, but aren't all assholes purposeful? I am guessing everything that has one uses it...just sayin'.
