Just got done re-watching the game

Two very winnable games were lost by a total of 7 points. Buffs could easily be 3-1 in conference with a couple of good bounces. It seems like almost anyone in the PAC can beat almost anyone. Look at the Oregon and Huskies fan boards; they are all colored red from slit wrists. Buffs are out of wandering in the Wilderness for a decade. Got this first conference W and go from there.

And we we were slightly unlucky to lose the previous 2 by a combined 7 points and lucky to win 4 games by a combined 23 points last year.

These things happen - especially on the road.

No one is trying to sell CU as world beaters right now - just trying to provide a dose of realism against those that somehow expected us to play like a Top 20 team this year. I never saw a single prediction at that level before the season started. We aren't that far off from the average expectation while battling some injuries at the positions of least depth.

Am I happy? **** no! Do I think the world of CU football is in armageddon right now? **** no!
No one, and I mean no one expected this team to perform like a top 20 team, but there's a huge difference between that and where we are today. I expected 7 wins before the season and I'd venture most people expected 8. Now it looks like a bowl game is the most we can hope for.

Regardless of how many coaches and seniors we lost after last season, missing a bowl game this year would be a massive step backwards and a massive disappointment.

I appreciate the effort to put a positive spin on this abysmal game. The facts are that we sucked and got lucky to win. The coaching staff is going to look at this game and come away thinking that what they’re doing is working when it’s not. It’s not working. At all.
Nobody on the staff is going to believe what they’re doing is working or acceptable. Also, how did they get lucky to win? Serious question, I didn’t watch the game.

That’s what I figured from tracking the play by play. Seems like people think it was lucky because they had more yards or something?

Definitely got outplayed in the first half, but the second half sure looked it was pretty even and would be a one-score game at the end. Did not really think there was anything "fluky" about how we ended up winning.

El oh el. This was the easiest game left on the schedule, even accounting for home field advantage. These vaunted Beavers at home this season have lost to Minnesota by 34, beat Portland State by 3 and lost to Washington by 35. They're a terrible team. The only world where this is a "very good win" is one where you have Mountain West-level expectations for this program, which is what you appear to have in year 5. Re-watch the game as many times as you want to find bits and pieces to fulfill your sunshine fantasies like you always do. The rest of us will be here in reality.
The chasm between reality and your extreme negativity is so much wider than the chasm you perceive to be between 'sunshine fantasies' and reality. Dang i hope our Buffs aren't reading some of our comments--depressing as balls.

At this point, CU has firmly established itself as the 11th best team in the Pac-12. Not good enough.

Finishing somewhere better than P12 South cellar is so very important. From worst to first to worst isn't a good look. Rise and fall.

Only ASU, USC and Utah offer an opportunity to escape that fate. Each opponent will be favored.

If HCMM could not recruit after last year’s success on the field, coupled with our new facilities, he never will. Next man up, bitches. Alternatively, we can learn to be happy at floundering around the bottom of the PAC.

The thing I have noticed is we play to the level of our competition. We were blow for blow with Washington until the pic 6 and looked like an FCS team against FCS teams.

Buffs will fly up to Martin this week to take on a team that is downtrodden, beat up, yet pissed off. Call me an optimist, but I like the Buffs' chances.

The Tumpkin case might have talen some wind out the sails.

Easy for others to negative recruit that sorry episode.

Off field issues matter, too.

I still believe in MM. I have no faith whatsoever in DJ Eliot.

So here's a weird idea: instead of firing Jeffcoat, what about promoting him to DC? Apparently we don't need the coordinators to recruit, and he's probably done more with less on the DL. He should know how MM wants his defense to operate. Logic would dictate that it's easier to find a good DL coach than it is a good DC.

I know, it's absurd. I'm just grasping at straws in the hope that we might be able to get this defense playing at a level somewhere above middle school quality.

Ummmm, ok.

Promoting Jeffcoat does make sense in a "let's have one guy coach the running backs... and the tight ends" sort of way.

Respectfully, this team should be passed the point where any road game win is cause for celebration. I'm happy with a win, don't get me wrong but that was one of the worst teams in P5 football.

Reser Stadium is one of the softest road game atmospheres in college football - announced attendance was 33k, but there weren't that many people there and OSU lost their last 2 home games by a combined 69 points including to a bad Minnesota team. The Beavers are a 3 point home victory over the currently 0-8 Portland State away from being a 0 win team themselves.

There are some positives from that game, but all the spin in the world doesn't change the fact that this team looks pretty bad and getting to a bowl game will be very difficult.

Man, I'll be honest. I care much less about bowl games than I do about the Buffs being fun to watch.

Bowl game would be nice to get comfortable with being in higher stakes, higher national attention games, but I'd be happy with a handful of wins with a Buffs game worth dedicating my Saturdays to.

Oof. To me the Buffs are much more enjoyable when they're winning.
