Nebraska definitely going to fire Frost with cause at the end of the season and will be off the hook for EVERY assistant coaching salary as well.

I hate to say this, but RG could learn something from NU here.
I question whether it's common or not. seems assistants rarely outlast a firing of the HC, but news of buyouts for assistants certainly isn't something I focus on, so have no clue if they frequently happen or not.
Sure seems like prudent language to have in an assistant coach's contract, especially those that are hired by the head coach.
Their boards are full of conspiracy theories of why this came public 10 days before the season....

We're not, and I thank God for it every day, on that list but we almost were twice....
If they magically turn it around and have a good season it all gets swept under the rug and life goes on.
Continue down the path they are on and suddenly breaking rules and hiding it gets them out of $25-$30 million dollars when they fire him.
Lawyers correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that if Frost were to want to dispute his firing in court it would end up in a Nebraska courtroom. Good luck getting a jury to rule against the university.
good luck hiring a real staff with a clause like that in their contracts. No wonder frostee had to bring his ucf rejects to lincoln.

Here is a graphic depicting the 5 national "Blue Blood" programs for every college sport. For the most part, they get it right. (Colorado is named in men's and women's cross country and in skiing.) It absolutely screws the pooch with the inclusion of Nebraska in the football category. What a joke.
Meat and Crop judging... ? Sounds like a spoof. Not that anyone cares but Men's Rugby is wrong as well. Other than Cal none of those should be in there.
Meat judging is a competitive thing? "Looks like about 6-1/2"

Yeah, that's a bit weird. The graphic is pretty accurate for many of the sports, though, EXCEPT for Nebraska being included in football. That might have been accurate 20 years ago, but not now.
the strangest part is that it explicitly is labeled "every college sport" and notably doesn't include either men's or women's basketball

The idea that Nebraska is any kind of football blue blood is downright laughable. They haven’t had a winning season in years. They regularly get their asses kicked by the likes of Northwestern and Purdue. Also - not including USC, Texas and Michigan (winningest program of all time) on that list really calls into question it’s validity and it’s choices for the other sports as well.

Each of those programs has a much greater claim to CFB blue blood status than does Nebraska. By a lot.
Correct. I was just saying that with only 5 being selected, one of USC, Texas, UM would have been left out anyways, but yes, Nebraska on that list is a joke

They routinely padded their records by playing a bunch of directional body bag games OOC. For most of those years Kansas, Kansas State, and Iowa State were among the worst teams in college football. A 9-10 win season isn't so impressive when you have 7 opponents who are free wins before you even start
They had some great teams, a statement which should not be construed as an offering of respect.

The made cheating at recruiting, better football through chemistry, and keeping bad citizens and students available an art form.
They had some outstanding teams in that era. They also had some teams that were dramatically overrated due to inflated records based on beating terrible teams.
The old joke about Nebraska and corn flakes going soft in a bowl was based in fact.
They were Alabama-lite of the 90s. Definitely had their time, but they are forever a middling program going forward. I think with the right coach, they have a ceiling in the B1G of ~9 wins in a really good year, and that’s with a soft OOC schedule.
Criteria are subjective for what makes a blueblood, but my thoughts
- History. NU checks this box with multiple MNCs and a plethora of conference championships
- Fan support. One of the very best schools for this over my life as a sports fan
- Recent success. Nope
- Recruiting hotbed. Nope
Look at #11 "NIL compensation contingent upon enrolment in a particular school" is prohibited. So unless the company paying tuition for the BYU walkons wants to also pay their tuition when they decide to go to somewhere else, deals like this are going to fall apart.
