Oregon vs Colorado

On the fence about spending a whole Saturday going to Folsom to watch us get blown out

They will if they run the table
Depends, you could have an undefeated BIG champ, undefeated Clemson, undefeated SEC champ, so they’d have to jump over a potential 1 loss SEC team (Bama, UGA, or UT), plus a 1 loss Mich or tOSU, and potentially undefeated TCU. There will probably be some other losses in there, but they need some people ahead of them to lose and even then it’s not a certainty.

I think a 1 loss conference champ will get in over a 1 loss non champ or a 1 loss team that didn't even play in the CCG. That obviously doesn't necessarily mean Oregon automatically gets in if they run the table, as I suggested, so point taken.

There’s just no respect for the Pac12 IMO. Finebaum argued with a straight face this morning that if Georgia beats Tennessee this weekend, then loses to Bama in the SEC title game, all 3 of those 1-loss SEC teams should be in the playoff with the Mich/tOSU winner. It’s ridiculous, and some heads would explode but SEC, SEC!!

Over an undefeated TCU and Clemson, which are more likely to happen than not?

A 1 loss conference champ has never been left out. Regardless, not only is this way too soon, but Oregon would get their **** pushed in, again.

Besides, the 4-d chess move these days is to make it to the Rose Bowl and hopefully get the 3rd best team in the B1G because one of tOSU/Michigan won't make their CCG and the other will be in the playoff. Win the Rose Bowl against Illinois, avoid getting humiliated, again, profit.

The odds, analytics or vegas, don't even remotely support that. Teams are going to drop games and there's zero point in fans of any of these so called contenders worrying about anything other than their own games.

That’s what he said - the argument is that the SEC is so far and away the best conference right now with 5 teams in the top 11 and each of Georgia, Tennessee, and Bama having beat and lost to one of the other 3 would have really good wins and a really good loss. It’s sickening, but he also swore it has nothing to do with his affiliation with the SEC. Sure.

I know we're in agreement, but tough ****, IMO. The SEC is far and away the best conference. Sure. The drawback to playing in that league is that you are more likely to lose a game, and as long as the playoff is open to the other P5 conferences, losses matter and 1 loss teams that don't win or even play for their conference championship shouldn't be considered over an undefeated P5 team.

What is especially funny is actually grouping Bama in with Georgia and Tennessee.

They need Clemson and TCU to both lose. They need Alabama to lose this weekend and then have the UGA-Tennessee loser (especially if its UGA) go down again.

There will be altitude but this weekend in Boulder will be warm and sunny. As for coeds, Oregon Cheerleaders are also beautiful.

Well, one out of three isn't bad. Some other considerations towards a Colorado-centric preview:

1. I love Bo Nix, but home Nix and away Nix can be two different animals. He may throw a pick or two.
2. Our pass defense really isn't that good. While Oregon fields a ton of DB talent they give away lots of yards through the air. Other teams have also picked on the coverage skills of our LBs. Gonzalez (thank you) is clear CB1.
3. Although it has improved, the perimeter run defense and tackling in space have been issues.
4. Oregon's kick and put return game is also pretty weak. It's almost like they don't try to block to set up a return, everyone just runs around.
5. Oh, and there's no talent behind Nix. He gets injured and the 4* QB2 has demonstrated that he's not capable of operating the offense. Sounds harsh, but that's my opinion.

Coach Lanning isn't going to run up the score for style points. Oregon will score 40-45 and the Buffs 17-24. If the Buffs get a defensive/special teams score or two and make it into the 30s, then Oregon will score in the 50s.

Hoping for a clean, hard fought, and injury free game. Who knows, maybe the Buffs pull off a miracle much the way Oregon did against Wazzu.

Only real question is how ugly the Oregon uniforms will be.

Last week was hot pink and neon green on black. I called them the cancer clown outfits. Yuck.

We’re one of the worst teams in all of college football.

If Oregon were to run the table that means they would be a 1-loss Pac12 champion and you'd have to like their chances of getting in. Despite what some here think, the Pac12 is actually getting a good deal of respect with 4 teams in the initial CFP rankings. But it would also depend on how things shake out of course, because the other 4 P5 conferences still have an undefeated team and Oregon is not getting in over an undefeated Big12, SEC, B1G, or ACC champ. It's also very unlikely that we end up with 4 undefeated P5 champs.

But what if Tennessee runs the table and Georgia is sitting there with 1 loss? Oregon is not getting in over Georgia in that situation. And people can whine about Alabama but their situation is pretty clear - if they win out they're in, if they lose a game they're not getting in. Where it gets dicey for Oregon is if it comes down to them and say a 1-loss Big12 champ TCU and/or a 1-loss Tennessee who didn't win the SEC.

1. Nix may throw 5-6 picks and you guys could still win.
2. Your pass defense may not really be that good. Our passing offense is really that bad, we may not be able to generate a lot of yards through the air against a good high school defense.
3. We don't block much so our RBs are rarely in space, and a lot of carries go to guys who are too slow to get outside.
4. We fumble and throw enough picks that we aren't punting a lot. When we do our punter specializes in short line drives so even without blocking the return yardage is there. And as to kickoff returns we don't score enough for that to matter.
5. We not only don't have talent behind our starters, our starters really aren't that talented either.

We appreciate it when opponents coaches have mercy on us.

And as to the uniforms seeing you guys play on Boise's field might be enough to convince some people to seek help for substance abuse.

I realize the wheels have fallen off the football cart this year and I'm certainly not on here to chest thump about Oregon football. It happens. Oregon was bad at football for decades. Colorado was competitive in recent memory. I'm old enough to remember sitting in a half full Autzen stadium rooting for the Ducks to get a third win against OSU in the civil war.

It's just a game and none of us will be playing in it.

How is the coaching search going and what is the prognosis for getting the football team back on track? Hopefully the CU athletics program isn't getting push back from the administration, ala, D. Shalala at Maimi.

As a PAC fan I want a strong and competitive Colorado football team.

Related question: B12 fans somehow think their conference is the big swinging dick as far as raiding the PAC and conference realignment. Are Buff fans happy in the PAC or is there a strong sentiment to leave for another conference?

Claudia Black for the sci-fi nerds.

And these are apparently our unis for a school whose colors are green & yellow.

Colorado has a garbage lame duck Athletic Director making the hire.

This Is Fine GIF

Oregon will not get in over any 1 loss SEC/B10 team or an undefeated ACC/B12 team due to the nature of their loss to UGA. They have almost no shot of making the playoff.

Hopefully your boosters have enough $ and influence to scrap he AD before the next hire.

Agree. Oregon has also been churning through head coaches since Helfrich. It's acutally pretty amazing that after Taggart, Christobal and (interim) McClendon, that Lanning has been able to come in and keep Oregon competitive in his first season.

A lot of Oregon fans think 7-8 wins for a first year coach is success. I'm in that camp. The notion that a PAC12 championship game and the possibility of a Rose Bowl appearance are still on the table in Lanning's first year is all gravy at this point.
