Wondering if this reasoning holds true for a Russian oligarch's expensive yacht too? Is the yacht a beacon too? Just food for thought. Hey bro, I don't begrudge SS collecting expensive watches and happy he's got the cash to do it. A watch itself just seems so outmoded and well, "Boomerish", given that smart phones have made them obsolete. Not wanting to start a discussion, just kickin' some thoughts around. Go Buffs !!

“Extra Possessions” would like a word.

Wait. I withdraw my LOL. When I LOL’d, I thought you meant that extra possessions were a potential benefit of watches that had not yet been discussed.

I don’t think the extra possessions convo was that dumb. It was wrong, but not dumb.

There are populations in this country that hold jewelry and watches like the people you know hold stocks and real estate. They are items that don't lose value and can be turned into cash quickly. So, pretty much the opposite of Boomer sh*t.
Finally, someone who understands money has entered the conversation. An AP is a status symbol. It's a visual evidence of status. An AP is a massive flex. A Maybach is a massive flex. None of this interest me but it might have when I was younger and wanted status without realizing what it cost.

Walk around the streets of Rome. You can buy a dozen of them for 100 euros
If you can find high end legit Rolexes and someone is selling them anywhere in the world for a 100 dollars. They would have been already brought and sold online 20k a pop. Depending on the year and quality, 50 to 60k. That's more expensive than a damn Burkin

I get it and I'm sure it is meaningful to a lot of people. Glad they're having fun and bringing an attitude of being all about achievement and success.

FWIW, I don't wear jewelry, drive a car that was chosen for practical reasons, and can't remember the last time I bought anything because of brand name or how anyone would perceive it - so this is all sorts of silly to me. I'm here for the football and to see the kids realize a great future for themselves. The rest of this is silliness and noise to me, but if it makes CU more popular, better, and the kids are having fun then I support it.

You know he’s from New Mexico, right?

i used to wear a really fancy watch because i didn't want to dress up but i wanted to convey status. they sit in a drawer. really the end of it for me was the ****ing phone does everything better and it is one less ****ing thing. but, i am not a kid who is on the rise, either. i won't wear an apple watch. i do wear designer blazers and jewelry and i am hardly a kid, i fully support any flex these guys want to do--- they earned it. if folks hate it, then **** them.

danny kannell in particular is an even bigger d-bag than i previously believed. racist ****s can **** all the way off.

there is a lot of truth to looking good and feeling confident. bring it all the **** on. Coach and this program are showing the world what is under the surface for a lot of the critics.
