Let's look at the contenders:
USC - Well, yeah. Historically, and especially for the last 10 years or so, USC has been the gold standard of college football dominance. But wait, they're on four years probation, will have 30 fewer scholarships to give out over the next three years, and can't play in a bowl game, so they'll be automatically eliminated from playing in the 2011 CCG even if they win the South.
UCLA - Skippy is running things - nuff said. They'll likely be on probation, right along with their USC bretheren, in another two years.
UofA - Interesting situation here. They are definitely on the upswing, but I'm still not convinced they're as good as Utah.
ASU - Dennis Erickson has already over-stayed his welcome in Tempe. Probably gone before 2011 anyway. Even if he's not, I don't see them making much noise. It could happen, but Utah is better, IMO.
CU - we suck. Until Hawkins is fired, and then likely for a few years after, we're going to be terrible.
That leaves ... Utah.
