BOULDER – Less than a week after the final game of his junior season, Colorado Buffaloes cornerback Isaiah Oliver announced via Twitter that he would forego his senior year and declare early for the NFL Draft. Oliver’s departure is a huge loss for CU’s defense, who will now be forced to fill the void of three departed starters in their secondary.
Oliver posted a heartfelt message to his Twitter on Friday, expressing his appreciation for his teammates, coaches, and fans:

The star of the Buffs 2017 defensive backs and a starter in 2016’s dominant ‘Money Gang’, Oliver has garnered well-deserved attention from scouts for quite a while. Through three seasons at CU, he totaled 29 passes broken up and three interceptions, joining fellow pro Buffs Chidobe Awuzie, Tedric Thompson and Ahkello Witherspoon as a leader in the Pac-12’s career passes defended. He also had 71 total tackles over that time. In his final season at CU, Oliver racked up 12 passes defended and two interceptions, despite missing a pair of games due to injury.
A dual-sport athlete in football and track, Oliver had expressed a desire to stay for his senior season to continue competing in both activities. Instead, he will head to the NFL where he is projected to be a first or second round selection. Oliver still has the NFL Combine and CU’s own Pro Day on the horizon, where he will have an opportunity to cement his draft value.
Come April, Oliver will join his fellow ‘Money Gang’ alum in the NFL, the last of the four original members to cash in at the next level.
