Against Nebraska, Oklahoma State, and Texas, the Missouri defense surrendered a touchdown to the opposition on their opening drive. (In their first four games, the Tigers' opponents netted 12 yards and a combined total of two first downs to start the game).
On the flip side, in each game of Missouri's 5-0 start, the Tigers scored a touchdown in their first possession. Against OSU and Texas, though, the Tigers failed to reach the endzone on their first try.
Moral of the story - if CU wants to remain competitive Saturday, a fast start (a la WVU, went the Buffs went TD drive, fumble recovery, TD drive) is a necessity.
