Mizzou has given up opening drive TD's in three straight games, so....

..... the Buffs had better be ready to play.

Against Nebraska, Oklahoma State, and Texas, the Missouri defense surrendered a touchdown to the opposition on their opening drive. (In their first four games, the Tigers' opponents netted 12 yards and a combined total of two first downs to start the game).

On the flip side, in each game of Missouri's 5-0 start, the Tigers scored a touchdown in their first possession. Against OSU and Texas, though, the Tigers failed to reach the endzone on their first try.

Moral of the story - if CU wants to remain competitive Saturday, a fast start (a la WVU, went the Buffs went TD drive, fumble recovery, TD drive) is a necessity.

    Go Buffs!

I feel good about the game.

Hope that is not a bad omen for the Buffs?

C'mon, Montana! You know that we're only permitted two TD's per game. It doesn't really matter when we get them.

I hope we save them for the second half... We might be the worst second half scoring team in the nation.

    WVU second half: 0 points
    FSU: (Did score 14)
TEX: 14 3rd string wash points
    KU: 7 points
    KSU: 0 points

Flat out the coach's inability to make adjustments as the games go on.

It was the total opposite last year. We trailed CSU, OU, TT, NU and Alabama all at the half and ended up winning, except for Bama which we nearly won.

    I don't think Mizzou will score 45.

I think they do. Tackling has been bad all year, too many weapons for cu to cover and then they hit you with their rb.

Hope to hell i'm wrong but I think our pass defense stats are misleading considering who we've played and the circumstances in the 2nd half of some of those games.

They hung 55 on us here in boulder last year, they are pissed and I don't have a good feeling about our defense "shutting" them down for 28 points.

You might be right. Your points are more valid than me just saying I don't think they will. We will find out.

Hawk just seems to have a game every year where we play nearly perfect against a good team on the road that we appear to be mismatched against. Is this it? We'll see.

Or Georgia in '06. I hate moral victories, but I really just hope we give Mizzou a game. I know they will be a great challenge to stop, but hopefully we can keep it respectable. I really don't have a great feeling of us winning.

If cu can keep it respectable and give them a game, I think that will give the team some confidence how ever bizarre that sounds.

If we can put up 24 points, it would surely give that side of the ball some confidence and I think the fans and players would feel good about beating A&m and ISU the next 2 games and becoming bowl eligible.

Not that I think we're going to be an offensive juggernaut overnight, but the difference in offensive attitude was pretty apparent against KSU. Yeah, the point total was still low, but it sure looked like the guys were more confident because we sustained drives. The next (and much harder) step is to convert longer drives into scores. Hopefully we see improvement in that area as the season draws to a close.

The continued struggle of the special teams worries me more than anything else right now.

Agree 100%. Most succesful teams have great special teams play. We have historically done pretty well here as well. Sucks to see us struggling here.
