Chiv gave fist pump when signal went in, up on him toes as Fields cleared with drag against double posts, low five immediately to MM, he and Montez with big embrace, big hug to JMac.

Were you there? You see any of this?

I watched it with him directly in front of me in 108.

He called that play. Guaranteed.

I think so, too. Got to think he's not quite himself with the cuts/balance/burst or he'd be in there.

Our definitions of blocking are two different things. Standing in the way and engaging or hanging on for dear life vs actually moving someone is my idea of a block, coincidentally I think the same of JMac on quick outs just gets in way and then stands there wondering why the play went for 1 or 2 yards. I'm not saying they don't try they do.
 
Got back from the game about an hour and 1/2 ago. Great tribute to Salaam with his mom and dad there, and to Homecoming Alums and ex-players too. The O-Line looked real as did the D line. Drew Lewis is a monster. Please appreciate Montez while he's here pre-NFL, it won't last forever. Great weather and happy fans !! My only complaint is that some coach on the D side of the ball needs to teach the D backs to look back for the ball. Half of our D Backs at least Half of the time have absolutely no idea when the ball is in the air. So a totally covered opposition WR catches a ball like a loaf of bread in a fishing net. On offense, more Shenault, more Shenault, more Shenault.

I've been bitching about that for several years ... but not just about CU DBs. It's prevalent even at the NFL level. But even the most idiotic of CFB or NFL color commentators bring this up constantly ... if you don't turn to the ball and you make any kind of contact with the receiver, you're going to get called for DPI.

OTOH ... if you are in a position to watch the receiver's eyes and also see him start to raise his arms in expectation of the ball, turn around, try to find the ball, and you might just be in a position to intercept it, or at least break it up. And even if you make some kind of incidental contact, you won't be called for DPI, unless the ref is a total asshole. I just don't understand why that's so hard to coach.

I will also add that Bisharat had a jaw-dropping 7 or 9 yard run in the 3rd Qtr that was Uber-Craig-James-like and totally fluid/shocking/block shadowing. If he can actually do that on a semi regular basis I'll have to join the BB fan club permanently. For me it was one of the more impressive plays of the game, just for crazy raw skill. Hadn't seen that before...

Because good WRs (the kind we have in the Pac-12) do a great job of faking with their eyes to make it look like the ball is coming, get a reaction and blow past the CB. CB is a really hard position to play.

The way I believe CU coaches it is to start with the fundamentals of being able to stick with the route and coverage to force a great throw. Then they hopefully progress into being able to be playmakers. A lot of other programs seem to allow looser play that may result in more playmaking from inexperienced guys but they also get toasted a lot.

This league may miss the playoff, but theres no doubt in my mind that its probably the most balanced in the country. Any one team can beat anybody else in league (OSU hung with UW for a half and was the better team Thursday night). You can't make too much of a performance like this one, or ASU's upset of Washington, or Cal's pounding of Washington State. This team is capable of winning out.....especially if they like play like they did today.
 
BTW - I missed the entire first half and part of the second half AND like a ****ing dip didn't set the DVR.

So I'm hoping that I can catch the replay on Pac-12 Network.

What I did see was pretty much what we wanted to see all year - an up tempo offense, wearing out defenses, and a opportunistic defense making big plays when needed.

Can't wait to see if we can pull off another win or two or three.
 
WTF is with bezerkely fans? They're such good losers. It's disconcerting.

Only explanation I have is practice really does make perfect.

Amazing how good this offense looks when they're able to open things up by completing a couple deep balls.

Also, when you re-watch I think you'll be happy to see that Javier played well in the middle and that Franke seemed to turn a corner and have his best game as a Buff.

I saw Franke sack the QB one-handed while holding off an o lineman with the other hand. Not sure if that was luck that the QB tripped, or Franke being one strong ass dude, but it looked pretty cool.

It seemed Edwards was subbed out more today than I've noticed previously. I'm guessing but I think he was in for maybe 30% of the snaps. Could be wrong.

Sure.

The communication isn't what it was last year with Chido, Tedric and Spoon on the field (especially Chido). I think we all knew we'd take a step back in the secondary this year. Considering what we lost, I think those guys have performed well this season.
