Is it possible Bohn gets back to Boulder and has a talk with DiStefano? Maybe tells him how keeping Hawk around will result in serious loss of revenue, angry fan base, transfers that hurt the mighty APR score, etc.
I find it hard to believe that Hawk strolled into DiStefano's office yesterday and just said hey man my team is full of good students, even though I have shown nothing on the football field, overrule your AD and give me another year. Well Dan, agree to a lesser buyout for next year and you have yourself a deal, let me text Mike the good news.

Nor Cal, I understand voting with your wallet. I intend to do so. I won't make any general donation in 2010 until I'm either funding a buyout or supporting a winning program. The donations I am planning instead, are going toward charity tickets to home basketball games. $100 to Chauncey's Kids gets 1 kid to a game (plus food & souvenir). Also, a few of us have an email out to Bohn & Mahmood to see if we could pool together to donate a bunch of season tix instead. So I'm focusing on supporting the basketball program and helping them win by doing my part to get people in the stands. If they ask for money for the practice facility, I'm in. If I have a good year in my business, I'll probably fund a basketball scholarship for 2010-2011.

People. This is, if he stays, as much to do about economics as anything. Its easy for us to play Monopoly with CU's money, but we can't. So try to understand the obsticles that the AD has to deal with and relax. It is easy to get pissed off and take your ball and go home. But it isn't fair. For a while I thought that, indeed, some donor stepped up. But I'm pretty sure that isn't true. CU had no choice. Also, don't pull the, "Well, this will cost them a ton of money" BS. That is a poor economic argument.

Im pretty sure I'd quit on the fucking spot. If he announces that instead of Hawks future Mike Bohn just moved up my respect yard stick more than 1 notch.
I'm just curious if Bohn will stick around? If his decision was truly overturned, why would he want to remain in the AD position? Apparently DiStefano thinks he can do a better job..

I come home to Texas for the first time for Thanksgiving in about 8 years. I was actually excited about who was gonna lead the program next year. The CU administration never ceases to amaze me with how badly they manage athletics, especially football. Do they really not see this is gonna do more hurt than good in the long run? I hoped Hawk could turn things around but I really dont think the guy can. Hope he proves all CU fans wrong.

just a thought, not sure even i agree with this
So if we all stop supporting (buying tix etc), as many have suggested and have a right to do, we all agree that it has a negative financial impact on the program at least for the long haul.
Since it seems that Distephano made this call why make the AD suffer? Why not continue to support the AD but stop all donations to the university? I myself send a good chunk of change to the Leeds school every year. If we quit supporting the school would it help Distephano see the link between a successful athletic department and a successful school?

this is total Bull****, right now I am so f-in pissed, I feel like not watching anymore CU football while this mutherfuker is the HC. I'm so f-in tired of stupid penalties, stupid gameday decisions, damage by real or percieved nepotism, mediocre recruiting, bulscheisse statements, egotistic stubbordness, and I just cant even stand looking at the POS let alone listen to him. I have never felt like this about any coach in any of the sports I follow. He is still selling snake oil, and it looks like the CU administration is still buying it!!! WTF is going on? I have zero faith in Hackins as does a good portion of the fanbase, the conference, the boosters, the media, the bookies, and the rest of the f-in CFB world! He CAN"T coach worth a dam, it was all Peterson, so why the hell is he being retained when the money is there (Fowler said on Nat'l TV)?
I'm sorry, but there is very little to look forward to anymore. I was content when I believed the moron was going to get fired. Now... another 5th straight losing season.
Well, this is just too much, there are so many things in life much better than dealing with the disappointment of CU football under Dan squawkins. Maybe I'll feel better next year, but another f-in CU season down the drain with no end in sight.

What these fools do not realize is that the alums of the late 80s and early 90s are entering their 40s or approaching their 50s which are the prime earning years for most Americans. Those same alums attended CU during the zenith of CU Football and are connected to the University by that. They will not look kindly on this CF with their check books. :dbt:

When attendance drops by 5k a game next season, if you assume conservatively that each person spends $70 a game, that's $2.1mm lost right there. The loss to the community on game days over the season will push that well above the $3mm that it would have cost to fire Hawkins.
This isn't monetary, this is a chancellor without a brain.

Not absolutely. I'm just not sure what recourse they have. They are paying off a $3 million loan on Barnett. Buying out Hawkins would add another $3.5 million. The economy is in the tank. They can't afford a big name, so would have to gamble on a no name. I can't believe you don't understand that. Stop making me the villian.

While I am not supportive of retaining Coach hawkins, you have a valid point. Hawk's a decent guy and I would be ok retaining if it met long term economic objectives. My problem lies in the comments that came out over the weekend from the chancellor, regents and the AD. To paraphrase, they said they were shooting for mediocrity. Winning wasn't that important. You may disagree but that's what I read.

Which makes this all the more frustrating. We've all seen the schedule for next year, it's brutal. I see no way hawk pulls a winning season out of his ***, which means we'll be going through this same song and dance next year. Why not just cut the cord now....
