Turned in a good performance at the Stanford Nike Combine. Here's what 247Sports had to say:

-Safety Dominique Love (La Jolla, Calif./The Bishop’s School) has good size and was very active during the event. He looked fluid during position work and made some plays in coverage during one-on-ones. He’s a sleeper to keep an eye on moving forward in this recruiting cycle.

We'll be getting his first official visit. Brother, dad and cousins are all basketball players and he was too until deciding to start focusing on football. Major sleeper with the athleticism to be great. If you can play basketball as a guard, you can play defensive back.

Are we definitely recruiting him as a safety?

Nope. Kind of like Jimmy Smith or Jalil Brown were not being looked at as corners by the services coming out of high school. We'll know more around his OV date, but I'm expecting to move him to corner in our database.

According to Rivals, Love is being recruited at cornerback (we'd had him at safety before) and will be making his Official Visit either this weekend during his HS bye week or after the season.

He had a touchdown and an interception in his season opener. Definitely a guy who fits the description of a late bloomer. Not only was he a basketball player, but he's only 16 years old as a senior this year.

There any tape on him on the premium sites?

He has the look of a Greg Brown corner and it sounds like he has vast untapped potential. I'm just so enamored with Will Jackson and I can't see us taking more than 1 or mayyyyybe 2 more corners this cycle that I kind of rather we wait for him. Then again his grades apparently suck.

Right now this team needs talent. I don't care if the balance gets off a little bit if we can get a kid who has the kind of speed we are missing who can play I think we take him and worry about balancing positions and classes later.

i can never tell if your being sarcastic anymore...

That was sarcasm. :smile2:

I think that CB is the hardest position to scout and that the ratings from the premium services are pretty unreliable for this position. Give me a guy with the right measurables and attitude, show me that he can play basketball, and I trust our coaches to develop him into a very good college CB.

The only other position I feel that way about is OL, fwiw.

I'm not even sure that BB disagrees with me all that much. It's more a matter of the cupboard being so bare from the lack of recruiting success Brown had the last 2 years under Hawkins (2* Deji may have been his most heralded recruit) and the fact that so much of the current depth chart either can't play or was recruited to the offensive side of the ball (Polk and Moten). It seems that he brought in a damn good 2011 class, though. Henderson, Harlos, Washington and Harrington all look like they can play (haven't heard much on Clark, but that may not mean anything yet).

Can't say I was blown away by his highlights. Looks like a decent athlete and has good size, but I thought he looked to have safety quickness. Didn't look overly physical either, so not sure he'd make a great safety.

Are you kidding me? This is a wicked highlight film. He has excellent hard to teach skills like adjusting to the ball (when on defense or offense). He outruns the defense with yards after the catch, plays with intensity and impressed me a lot on special teams-often the first man down and also blocked a PAT coming off the end! He is young and already so talented. Talk about a sleeper! Hope we get him-I'd put $ on him getting PT first year on special teams and support in secondary. Or maybe Embree and EB want to try him out at receiver?

Thanks for posting! Great looking kid, glad to have him. Who's the QB?

No problem that's some highlights from last season and the first couple of games this season I have well over 1000 yards and 5 interceptions hopefully I can get the film updated soon after playoffs is over with . The qb is Joey Moreno, a senior this year as well. A really great athlete.

When are you visiting the campus?

I have received a number of private messages from people regarding this thread, so I have to assume that we have a lot of people who are worried about what is allowed by the NCAA when talking to a CU recruiting prospect.

1. You are not allowed to initiate contact with a recruit. That means that no one should be doing that unless you also happen to be a recruiting prospect and want to chat with someone else who is looking at CU.

2. DomLove initiated contact, and there is nothing against NCAA rules with that.

3. We are free to discuss our experiences at CU with recruiting prospects, give information about Boulder, Denver or the surrounding area, or discuss majors of study if the recruit has questions on these things.

4. What we cannot do is try to recruit. First of all, most of us probably suck at it and are just as likely to turn a prospect off. But, more importantly, it's an NCAA violation for fans to directly encourage recruits to come to CU. Please keep comments that are directed toward recruits limited to appreciation of interest and providing information - ideally links or sources for getting official information.

We all love it when recruits, their parents, their friends or others who are helping them through this process find our AllBuffs community. Let's make sure that we do things the right way. Obey the NCAA guidelines and be supportive of these kids and their families during a difficult and stressful process. You can find the CU compliance brochure "Protect Your Team" online here.

im just interested in the recruiting process maybe if dom is willing he can tell us what its like?
