Henderson rips Pac-12 and calls it the "JV league"

Didn't Henderson leave for some paper in Oregon? I thought there was a whole thread about it a few months back. Did he decide to stay?

I guess I fail to see where he is wrong... this is the worst high major conference I can remember, ever.

To be fair, he was quoting a guy who said it was a JV league. The Pac is second tier this season, far below top-6 status, and even threatening to fall out of the top 10.

I, as well, blame UCLA. They should be the grand-daddy of this conference, and they're playing like a new-born babe. Additionally, 'Zona isn't what it was under Olsen, so this conference can't be what it was 5-10 years ago, but 9th or 10th best league in the nation is pathetic.

Utah being worse that Southern Illinois-Edwardsville is also shameful, but every conference needs a bottom feeder - that's why the BiG got Nebraska.

You thinking about Woelk from the BDC?

Side question: you going to the game tonight?

Maybe I got them confused, I thought it was Henderson though. Did Woelk go to Oregon?

Side Reply: Most definitely! Going on Saturday too even though its during both the playoff games.

I am sick of apologizing for the p12 having a down year, this isn't cu's fault, what they need to do is take advantage of it and finish in the top 1/4th in the standings (in a rebuilding year of their own). Does north carolina, duke and kansas have down hears? Yes they do, it just happens that arizona, ucla, and uw are are all having down years in the same year and this is a product of their success. They get these top recruits and they all leave for the nba after a year or 2, they don't have four year recruiting cycles.

What conf has the 2nd most players in the nba? The p12 With 53. Amd what team has the 2nd most players in the nba? Ucla

Maybe it is just me, but the Pac-12 seem to tank once the NBA implemented the one and done rule. I have no idea what happened to the Pac-10/12 since because if I remember correctly it used to be one of the better conference. Maybe some bad luck with coaching hires and a lot of recruits just not turning out. Maybe the West Coast talent has gone downhill over the last few years..... Oh well I just hope the Pac-12 gets out of this funk soon.

The conference was gutted with early entrees to the NBA in the 2000s. But there's been plenty of time for programs to adjust and adapt.

Like it or not, the Pac-12 is about Los Angeles. Howland is not getting it done at UCLA and the recruiting violations at USC made it impossible for them to pick up the slack.

I have always known that the Pac-12 revolves around Los Angeles no matter what the sport is. Still even with UCLA struggling and USC's sanctions I would have hoped some program stepped up to take their place even if temporary. Arizona seems to have talent and so does UW, but neither team can put it together for long runs.

I think anyone calling the Pac a JV league right now is correct this year. Call a spade a spade. We are terrible right now.

The Pac has never, and I mean NEVER been worse than it is this year. It's completely pathetic and painful to watch. There is not a single dominant team. At least in the mid-2000s in football when Pac football sucked, we had USC.

Right now, there is not one single Pac team that would rank in the Top 3 of any other major conference. It's completely pathetic...

I think we may have a couple decent teams come March. Out of the top half of the conference I have no idea which teams they could be (CU has as good a shot as anyone).... but our conference is horrible and we'll be lucky if we get two bids in March. Three would be unbelievable.

We're the Big Sky conference of basketball right now, although I'm not sure we'd fare so well against their teams....

I'm down for that...keeps the product fresh and that reminds me of how I showed the Big 12 fans that the Pac-12 is the only conference whose members have all won a share of a conference championship within the last 25 years. The SEC, B1G, and Big 12 can't claim that.

Yeah. I got sick of assuming Kansas would win the conference before the first ball had been tipped. It always felt like playing for a chance at the post-season. This idea of being able to compete for conference titles if we continue to recruit well and support the program is a huge breath of fresh air.
