CU Buffs target football foes to the east

Not sure that this is a bad thing. We have been recruiting well on the East Coast (DC and NJ specifically) and always can use B1G games for recuriting exposure. Also, as has been mentioned, we should be on better footing to add BCS level teams to the non conference schedule by 2014. We get plenty of exposure in the West with the Pac schedule. I think it will be a smart idea to add more teams from the East as long as we are getting 6 home games in Boulder. Some of these games have to be in Boulder.

A northeast school that visits boulder twice and CU travels to once.

A) Army. Westpoint FTMFW
B) Any Boston school. BC, BU, Harvard, whatever. Beantown will provide
C) Virginia...if that somehow qualifies as NE.
D) Penn State...as IF they'd go for a twofer.

Do not want...
Syracuse
Buffalo
Rutgers
UConn (I have a bad feeling about this one)
Pitt

He also mentioned a Big 10 school within a couple hour drive of Chicago. Northwestern? Indiana? Illinois?

Why would Boston College or Virginia do a 2-for-1?

Bloomington (IN) is at least 4+ hours from Chicago, so i doubt that would be one of them.

However, I think both West Lafayette (Purdue) & Madison (WI) are just a bit over 2 & 2 1/2 hours away from Chicago, so maybe they'd be options as well, as that puts them in the same range as Champaign (IL).

It's been a while since I've lived in Chicago, so my driving times could be a bit off.

I would love to see a game at West Point. I'd definitely be up for that trip.

Looks like this is taking a B1G route, and focusing in and around Chicago. That's fine, although I think the ACC offers more winnable opportunities and arguably access to recruiting grounds that CU is currently hitting harder (like DC, NJ, PA)

An ACC opponent would have to be a home and home, we're just not going to be able to get a 2-for-1 unless we go for an unattractive Big East or non-AQ opponent.

Given our recent efforts in recruiting DC, a home and home with UVA would be fantastic. You're not going to find a better combination of a winnable BCS opponent series, great college town/atmosphere, and solid recruiting exposure in fertile territory (VA/DC/MD/NC).

I'm certainly open to something like West Point. Just don't stick us with something lame like a UConn or Pitt UNLESS it's a 2-for-1.

My gut feeling for the northeast team is either Rutgers or UConn...also two unmentioned darkhorses are Temple and UMass (moving up to the MAC)...both would be the sort of school that would accept a 2-for-1 more readily than a Big East school, and they fit within the geographic footprint...I don't think it is either of them, but they must be mentioned...
