Prototype for the 34 DE/OLB playmaker position.

I like this offer.

A few tidbits I found when I was digging around:

- trains with Prodigy Athletes, which has had some success placing D1 prospects
- was invited to the Under Armour All American game
- lists himself at 6'3" in his video and he looks to me like he may have a bit more height than the services list

We are offering a ton of DE/OLB tweeners. Castro is dreaming big, he wants to play for a winning program. He was pretty blunt about this when he talked to the UCLA rivals site.

Gotta say out of the many DE/OLB offers thus far, I like Castro, Luke Kaumatule, and Moana Ofahengaue the best. Regardless, we are definitely looking to address the front seven if the offers are any indication.

Scout update from yesterday has him planning on visiting for the Spring game.

He wants to play in the Pac-12 and really likes USC, but not sure he will get that offer.

Rated a 4* by Scout and he continues to pick up more offers. We are going to be squaring off against just about every Pac-12 school here, hope he enjoys his visit this weekend.

His absence at Junior Day (visited UCLA instead) is pretty disappointing. Really hope he decides to visit Boulder sometime this spring/summer.

Oregon, Oklahoma, and UCLA are the top three. Smart money is on Oregon though.

...didn't see that one coming.

It sounds like the issues surrounding Oregon factored into the decision (good news for every non-USC and non-Oregon Pac team over the next couple of years)...

Sounds like Oregon stopped contacting him, but he would be all over them if they re-engage. Still plans to take all 5 visits as well, and only has four schools lined up at this point, per 247.

He has flipped to Oregon. No surprise, but the Ducks are starting to get some momentum on the recruiting trail.

Oregon finishes STRONG every year. It's there calling card of late. They need to enjoy it before the sanctions hit.

By LOI day they will have a monster class, you can bet on that.

I could be wrong but I think they will likely get little or nothing in the way of sanctions.

Flipped to UCLA.

Big loss for Oregon. Big gain for UCLA.

I think someone needs to explain to Mora, though, that this isn't the NFL where you can sign as many players as you want, invite them all to camp, and then decide which ones to cut in order to get down to the roster limit.

Nik -- you sound a little less than enthralled with Mora's tactics.

If he wanted to go this route, he should have cut all of Rick's commits loose. It bothers me that he is willing to string kids along and abandon them at the 11th hour if he finds someone he likes better. The math's the math and there is no way he has room in this class for all of these guys. He is going to have to drop some guys to get to 25 and then boot some players during the spring while telling some signees they need to grayshirt in order to get to 85. This is a policy that hurts people. You're damn right I'm less than enthralled.

Can't the recruits count?

Good to vent every now and then. Mora may alienate some future recruits and/or hs coaches and contacts.

Sure they can count, but the coach blows smoke that they are the one he's going to keep, everybody's the #1 recruit. Kid's already told everyone he's going to that school, probably already been running around school in logo hats and sweatshirts, made friends with his recruiting host and a couple of the other recruits.

HS kids don't work on a heavy dose of logic.

That makes it even tougher when all the sudden they get the "sorry we just don't have space for you, you could wait half a year and grayshirt or you can walk-on and we will take care of you next year."

That really sucks.

Good short term policy. Horrid long term policy.
Great post. This is exactly Mora's moe. He is living off of the NFL name. There are a few other PAC 12 coaches living off of the name that will help the buffs in the long run
