Who are we hoping for w/ the last schollie?

Since Tillman signed elsewhere I assume he is no longer visiting. If that is the case, do we have any ideas on targets for our 1 open schollie? Any blue chippers still undecided? If not how about an OL or LB juco?

This was talked about in the recruiting chat. Nobody specific is on the radar right now but as Embo said its nice to have it. If theres a late qualifier or an under the radar prospect that pops up we have that option, or give it to a walk on that has earned it.

I don't understand the OP. Why would he not visit just because he signed somewhere else?

To answer the question, I don't think the scholarship is being held for anyone in specific. If someone falls in their lap, they can use it. If not, they carry it over to next year.

I'm guessing Embo made a call to Kozan with a "c'mon mannnn, you know you want to be in Boulder and not that humid ****hole of Iowa" Or something like that...

Reward a walk on that is on the team now - Schrock or Ford maybe

May not be a bad strategy, hold the scholly in case someone else comes up that we really want. If not give it to a deserving WO on a one year basis, no promise for the future. Good for the kid and his family who get the scholly and we still have it to use next recruiting cycle (unless the WO continues to improve and we decide to make it permanant.)

It's good to have a kid like Schrock step up, but I think it's a bad idea to carry 6 scholarship QBs. At the very least, Shrock is probably going to have to wait a couple years until Burnette's scholarship is freed up. That Burnette scholarship is looking like kind of a waste at this point.

He's a senior this coming season. Burnette will be gone very soon.

What about the WR transfer from UT. Is he still stuck in transfer limbo waiting to be released?

Even five scholarship QBs spread out over three classes is overkill.

Embree has been pretty clear on this point that his goal is to have 1 QB per class. We are just in limbo now as the old recruits and last minute additions for security reasons (Burnette) go through the cycle.

Wood (JR), Hirsh (JR), Dorman (So), Dillon (RS Fr) is a decent amount for 2013. I would be fine with rewarding Schrock a scholly next season if he continues to improve and puts in the effort.

The only way giving Shrock a scollie makes any sense is if a QB leaves after spring. Having five underclassmen (eligibility wise) makes little to no sense at all for two major reasons:

1. It makes it really hard to recruit the position for a couple years.
2. You are essentially putting at least one guy on scholarship who will be doing next to nothing for multiple years.

This. And Schrock doesn't "need" the scholarship. If there isn't a solid prospect for the '12 class we use it on, I would give it to a senior walk-on and bank it for later.

imo, Embree will hold the scholarship for Austin Vincent if he can make it back in by the fall. That is where it came from, and it will go back to him. If he doesn't make it in, Embree will bank it for 2013.

Embree will use the scholarship in a heartbeat if he sees someone he wants come available. If Austin makes it back in the fall, there'll be at least one more scholly free up by then - no doubt.

With only 9 for next year at this point, we are looking at a small class by any count. I would expect that there'll be some transfers after the spring as kids start to get the message they will not ever play here. Happens every year.

Can we get a Juco in an area of need for upperclassman experience (DL, S, TE) now? If we can, and he will qualify, schollie. Otherwise if Ford impresses in the spring and busts his ass in camp in August, I'd be fine with giving it to him should it still be available. But as with most programs between now and Fall I would expect attrition to free up 2-3 more, minimum.
