Which freshman is most likely to redshirt?

So who red-shirts? Talton and?
Gordon most likely... depending on off season development, maybe Eli, but prob not.

I guess this is a good problem to have, but I think gordon will be ready to play.
Is Talton the consensus redshirt?
Yes. Partially because I think he's still just 17 years old. He's young for his class in addition to making a huge move up in competition level.
I think at least one of the bigs will RS... Mills staying is confusing me here though.
If one of the bigs RSs it may be Scott, not Gordon. Scott is ahead of Gordon in offensive skills but Gordon is significantly ahead of Scott defensively and in terms of physical development. Both have been hurt by the lack of competitive big men in Colorado HS basketball and have been able to dominate without putting out much effort. Scott is going to have a bigger adjustment to playing against guys his height and skill level. Gordon is ahead of him in terms of playing defense with his feet and anticipating what is going to happen on the floor. He is also more willing to engage in the physical play that they will see at the college level.
Tad's decision in terms of using a RS on one of them may come down to how much SHT develops before next season. If he continues what he started to show the latter part of this season and can be an effective player then one of the FR may be able to sit and develop, if he comes back without that development Tad may not have the option.

Scott dominated at the AAU level last summer IIRC.
Dude, no. Seriously, no. Not only is Scott not redshirting next year, he's penciled in to start. I love Gordon, but he is not more ready than Scott physically and he's not as good of a player. Scott is a special, special talent.
I said if, and I said Scott is more advance offensively. I actually don't think either on will RS but Gordon right now is a better defensive player and Tad likes his bigs to play D. Scott doesn't move his feet as well on defense as Gordon. Gordon with his leaping ability and timing could be a special shot blocker and rebounder.
As to Scott being a special, special talent, I agree completely. Unlike almost all HS big men he can play both with his back to the basket and facing the bucket. He is effective scoring inside and has an outside shot that will force people to come out on him letting him use his ability to go to the hoop. He also has a much better than average awareness of what is happening around him for a big man and when guys come over to double on him he very effectively finds the open man.
Gordon doesn't have close to the offensive arsenal that Scott has but he is stronger and more willing to mix it up defensively. He moves his feet better and gets off the floor much better. A part of this with Scott may be due to his ability to dominate at this level without having to do these things, it will be interesting to see how fast he adjust.
Don't take my comments as being negative toward either player in any way. I am very glad we have them both, Scott has earned the national recognition he has gotten and and I think a lot of schools are going to with they had Gordon as well.
As far as Scott being penciled in to start, is that Tad talking or posters here and elsewhere. I don't think Tad has made any decision set in stone yet and if he has he isn't likely to make them publicly this early in the process, these guys haven't had a single practice yet.

I don't want to over-hype Scott, but I firmly believe that he would have been our top post player if he'd been able to play for us this season. The odds of him redshirting in 2012-13 are lower than the odds were that Spencer Dinwiddie would have redshirted for the 2011-12 season.

Scott and Gordon will both have the opportunity to play major minutes. Scott is definitely special and has all the offensive tools to make it to that next level. Both he and Gordon will have to add some bulk. I see both guys being beasts down low eventually. Gordon is going to be a terror defensively in a couple of years. His timing for blocking a shot is strange and effective. I think it's because of his long arms. Sometimes it seems he barely jumps and just stuffs it.
While most people are drooling over Scott's potential (including myself), Gordon is flying a bit under the radar. I tell you right now, anything Gordon puts up from 10 feet in is money in the bank and he has a solid jump hook. Gordon wasn't asked to carry his High School in scoring because Sierra has the best perimeter players in Colorado Springs year in and year out. With this said, Gordon is a team player who deferred to his teammates much more than Scott did. I don't think we've seen the full repetoire of Gordon's offensive game.
Anyways, I'm crossing my fingers that these guys talents transfer over to the college game. I think it will and hope we don't have to worry about getting an impact big man for the next 3-4 years. Colorado with a front court!!! Seriously!!!

Anyway, I think you're spot on. But I was caught off guard a while back when someone I consider credible told me Gordon. I'm not sure I see that, but I'm not ready to completely discount it either.
Gordon would surprise me, but you never know. I'd think there would be room for his shot-blocking and rebounding, plus it would give Dre more time at the 3. I'm not sure there's enough depth inside next year without Gordon. You'd basically be trading Austin for Scott and we all saw how bigger teams bullied us last year.

I had also heard on one of the recruiting sites that Gordon could be redshirted. Overall tho, I just don't see it. One of the weaknesses I could see of the team is at the 4/5. If we only have Scott, Roberson and Harris-Tunks we will be really thin up front.
I could see one of Talton/Stalzer being redshirted though. Probably Talton.

I dont know why more people arent thinking it is staltzer. In Tad's interview about the class, he said that the original 5 all have shots to start. He intentionally did not include staltzer in that.
Well sure, it'd be a violation if he talked about Stalzer before he signs. And I don't think there was ever an intent for Stalzer to start.

I don't think either of the bigs will.....I think this club might need Jenkin's shooting from the wing (if he can play Boyle level defense).
Yeah. Under Boyle, offense may get you in the rotation but defense keeps you there. Even Alec was benched for a start because Tad was unhappy with his defense.

XTalt and Eli -- likely. Maybe Jenkins, it just depends on him keeping that chip on his shoulder after he arrives.

I really don't think Eli RS, I think he was brought in strictly to contribute in spot minites at PG this year.
This. I see him as a guy who doesn't have a huge ceiling. Likely be a backup for 4 years and contribute good quality minutes, but never expected to run the team.

Glue guy for 4 years. No reason to redshirt him because of the role he's expected to play and the lack of an impact redshirting would have on his development/ceiling.
Did I miss something here? I know there were whispers of one of the recruits not making admissions awhile back but they seem to have died down and I never heard Talton mentioned specifically. Is there something new on this?
Yeah I'm not sure where he's coming from with that statement either.
