Dobard is one of the top tight ends in the country for the 2013 class. He was a standout at the Army junior combine and will have offers from all over the place when it is all said and done. Not surprisingly for a Louisiana kid, he favors LSU early on in the process.

"I think coaches are a little scared to recruit me because they think I am going to LSU, but that is not true," he said. "I like LSU, but I am really leaning towards leaving Louisiana.

"I really like Georgia, Miami, FSU, Auburn, and Texas right now. I have no problem leaving the state and the schools I am looking at the hardest right now are not in Louisiana."

Obviously we are on the outside right now, but pretty interesting that he seems set on leaving the state.

Wonder how he got his hands on actual game jersey. Most of happened on his visit down there.
Pretty sure you can see and wear a game jersey, you just can't have one made for you. Crawley has this on his twitter as well from his OV...

Thats what I was getting at. Knowing Miami I wouldnt be surprised if it was his lol.

Every commit to Miami must inherently be a soft commit, right? The NCAA is going to have to come down on them pretty hard.

It's closer to the opposite if anything. The commits that they get are the ones that really want to be there. Standish is actually a big Miami fan.

Good point but the NCAA may take it out of their hands.

This may end up as close to the death penalty as we have seen since SMU.

I don't mean this in a racist tone. But Miami seems likemthe land of milk and honey to a lot of black kids. Especially with the "takin' my talents to South Beech" stuff. When I was a kid, SoCal had that kind of appeal.

It's definitely the cool spot right now. Wade and LeBron playing for the Heat really gave it a lot of pub.

Doubt it it'll match what USC got, let alone SMU.

Are you kidding?

Miami already has a long history of NCAA sanctions, they are a multiple repeat offender. Then you get a major donor who hangs out with the administrators for not only the athletic department but also the general administration providing athletes with hookers and blow.

You have past players who have publicly admitted that not only was it going on but that coaches and administrators where there when it was happening and that the money they recieved was no secret.

They could, should, and probably will get hammered bigtime. Especially since the NCAA wants something to take the attention away from Penn State.

This is just some of what is already out there.

There are photos, films, financial documents, and the public testimony of a convicted felon.

The NCAA moves very slowly but if you think this is going away you are in fantasy land.

They'll get them, but It won't be anything close to a death penalty. I'm not saying they shouldn't be hammered, but the NCAA is pretty inconsistent with this stuff.

I disagree, I think they are gonna get hammered. It might rival USC's punishment or even a tad worse. As I understand it, not positive, most of SC's punishment was Reggie Bush related. Pretty sure alot of Miami players were on the take.

I don't think they will give them the death penalty, unless something comes out to indicate more ongoing activity, that is what killed SMU. SMU was still doing it while they were being investigated and in process with the NCAA.

I think what they will get though is going to be much worse than USC got. USC still had some kind of plausable deniability about their upper administration and even the coaching staff. It was laughable deniability but they could still with a somewhat straight face claim not to know about it. Also other than potential tax issues nothing at USC was overtly criminal, the violations were strictly financial in nature.

Miami is in a whole different situation. First they have plenty of evidence that the coaches and administration should have and did know what was going on. There is no deniability, they can't plead ignorance. Secondly the violations at Miami went well past financial and into the realm of criminal with drugs and prostitution as an integral part of the ongoing events. Third issue is time. USC can again from an evidence standpoint argue that the events were of a limited duration of time, essentially the time frame of Reggie Bush and OJ Mayo. This issue with Miami is clearly documentable for at a minimum close to a decade and dealing with a huge amount more student athletes than could be tied to the USC situation.

The biggest issue in addition to all the above is that USC had a relatively clean record as far as the NCAA was concerned. Miami's baseball team went on probation in 2004, the football team had a three year probation starting in 1994. The Miami program also had multiple issues with players having run-ins with the law and established a strong reputation as a renigade program. To an image concious organization like the NCAA that reputation matters.

The NCAA saw what the death penalty did to SMU and would like to not repeat it. At the same time they cannot ignore or go easy on Miami. Just guessing but I would not be surprised to see them get pretty close to the death penalty. A scholarship cap of 50 - 60, a recruiting limit of 15-20 kids a year, even a recruiting dead year would not be out of the question. In addition they will be under the microscope for a long time to come. Anything in the future, even relatively minor violations will result in the hammer coming down again. The result will make it very hard to run a winning football (and basketball which we haven't discussed but is also involved) program.

Miami should get hammered. That will reduce scholarships, but it won't hurt their recruiting for the players they go after. In fact, scholarship reductions helps recruiting. Being able to say "we don't have many to give and we're offering you" makes a big impact.

They are suffering, just doing a good job masking it with talent. Kiffin just recently decided to not have live tackling in practices and scrimmages in fear of injury. USC did it the year before last season, and their defense was very suspect (if it isn't already). Combine that with them not getting everybody that they'd normally get, and those players going to other Pac-12 schools helps close the gap....a bit.

I think they'll win the national championship this year. Next few should be pretty lean, though.

I agree they'll have a good chance. Injuries will play a big factor youd think. Hell I thought by the end of last season, they could play with and beat anybody. Yes that includes the top 2.

I think people need to understand three major things about USC right now:

1. They have arguably the best returning QB in college football. That can cover a lot of deficiencies.
2. The real impact of scholarship reductions will not be known for a couple more seasons. This was the first class impacted.
3. The margin for error is pretty small going forward. They cannot afford to miss on many players or afford many injuries in a given season.

They may still stay a top 10 team throughout the process, but it will not be easy.

And they lost the coach that was behind building the whole thing to the NFL. It is always a question if a new coach can maintain the standards of a program over time. USC has a lot of advantages but other programs have fallen after coaching changes as well.
