It looks like it is going to be a busy weekend as the soccer, volleyball, cross country, and women's golf teams are all in action.

Soccer
On Friday, the 12th place Buffs (1-6-1, 7-7-3 overall) will travel to Tuscon to face the 11th place Arizona Wildcats (1-5-2, 5-8-3 overall) at 4pm on the Pac 12 network with the loser taking over last place in the conference.
LiveStats: http://pac-12.com/livestats/livesta...&gameID=42890&visID=25&homeID=89&dev=web&app=[xos:app]&platform=PAC

The on Sunday, they will stay in the state of Arizona to take on the Sun Devils (3-4-1, 7-8-2 overall) at 5pm on the Pac 12 network. If the Buffs can pull off the sweep, they can really move up the standings heading into the season finale with Utah and possibly finish in the top half of the conference.

Volleyball
On Friday, the 7th place Buffs (3-6, 13-8 overall) will host #2 Oregon (9-1, 18-1 overall) at 7pm on the Pac 12 network. I'm not holding my breath on this one, but you never know.
LiveStats: http://www.cubuffs.com/liveStats/liveStats.dbml?DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=600&LIST_SPORT_KEY=W_VOLLEYBALL

On Sunday, they will host the other Oregon school as the 8th place Beavers (3-6, 13-8 overall) come to town at 1pm on the Pac 12 network. This is a good opportunity to move up in the standings as there are currently 4 teams with 3 conference wins trying to catch 6th place call with 4.

Cross Country
On Saturday, the #2 men's and #21 women's teams will be competing at the Pac 12 Championships from Santa Clarita, CA hosted by UCLA. This is the highest the men's team has been ranked since 2007. It looks like it will be televised on the Pac 12 network. I will try to find more info later in the week.

Women's Golf
From Sunday through Tuesday, the Buffs will be competing in their last tournament until February when they travel to San Antonio for the Alamo Invitational hosted by Texas-San Antonio. The teams competing are: Baylor, Colorado, East Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville. LSU, Nebraska, North Texas, Oklahoma, SMU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas State, Tulane, and UTSA.

VB has shown improvement this season, still a ways away from being a player against this weekend's schedule, but they're moving up. Think they have a very promising future.

Big weekend for soccer to show they're actually on the way up and not just an OOC machine.

I can't think of too many places where it's harder to climb from near the bottom of the conference to contender

sd they are clearly on the way up

Dont get me wrong. There's no doubt they are improved. They've taken some good teams to the mat too. This is the kind of weekend they should at least come away with a split, if not a sweep though, and send a message that they're coming in the Pac12. Just want to see them push through the wall, come away with a couple more conference wins. Taking teams to the mat is great, but win the games you should and finish some of the top teams they've played tough.

Here is a very small preview of the Alamo Invitational

The Alamo Invitational
Oct. 28-30
Briggs Ranch GC, San Antonio
The field: Baylor, Colorado, East Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Nebraska, North Texas, Oklahoma, SMU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas State, Tulane, UTSA
The skinny: Oklahoma is coming off a record-breaking victory at home. Tennessee and Texas A&M had strong finishes at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate, and host Texas-San Antonio has the talent, but has had a slow fall after a four-win season last year.

If we can get this girl to commit for cross country, we'll be set for a few years. On a 3 mile run, she finished in 1st by 1 min 8 sec.

Is she considering CU? I'll say one thing. I've seen so many high school girls be deemed the next great thing. Katie Kaltenbach was the next Melodie Fairchild. It never seems to work out. A lot of girl runners peak in high school. But its hard to argue with her time. 16 flat in a 5k is damned impressive.

I don't know, I couldn't find anything about recruiting on her. I just saw the story and the time she posted.

I missed the soccer match but it looks like the Buffs won easily by defeating the Wildcats by a score of 3-0. The stats look similar for both teams so it looks like it was a fairly even match with the exception of the most important stat, the final score.

Oregon takes the second set 25-20. Buffs fought hard and led for a good part of the set but the Ducks pulled away at the end. On to the third set...

Watched the vball on TV. Lost 3-0 but the Buffs were hanging in the last two.

I don't have Pac12 net so I had to go by the LiveStats which wasn't updating. A real good effort against a top 5 team that is 18-1.

They'll have a better opportunity for a win when they face Oregon St on Sunday
