Darell Garettson

Interesting article on DP that he might be interested in switching his commitment to Colorado. He can be the change of pace QB needed for those Wildcat formations, inside zone runs and he can sling it too. I like what I see, the only problem is he has the body type of Kellen Moore. A redshirt year would help him.

I don't know about getting yet another QB on the roster. Especially another one for 2013 now that Sefo has confirmed he is coming. He seems talented, although not quite the physical specimen we want for CU I think. Personally I hope Mac lets him keep his commitment to SJSU and he has a great career there.

Pass.

You already have Sefo for this class. Don't get overloaded there and recruit a more high profile QB next cycle.

This kid is good. He is very good. He might not have the measurables, but I bet he will be a very good QB in college. Watching his film his footwork, delivery and defensive reads are better than Sefu or Shane. He also appears to be faster running with the ball than Sefu (haven't really seen Shane run much).

I wouldn't have any issues bringing this kid in if we dropped 2 other QBs on the current roster.

yea, this kid looks better than del rio also. if sefo d-commits and they clear about three off the current roster, bring him on!

Another 5'11 QB at Colorado? No thanks. I'd be happy to let him walk-on and earn a scholly tho.

Competition is good, and it will be a 2 QB system. Sefo or Dillon would be the starter, Darell will come in as a chase of pace QB, would have some special packages for him. BTW Dree Brees, Kellen Moore were not that tall.

Henderson is a douche. But I'd suggest this: Watch this kids film, and then go watch Sefo and Shane's film. Let me know what you think.

Serious question: did I miss MacIntyre talking about using a two-QB system?

I think BigBang is out of his ****ing mind... For every Drew Brees and Kellen Moore, I can list 100 short QB's who haven't done anything. We've witnessed two here in Cody HaLkins and Jordan Lebb.

I'm so tired of people dropping Brees' name anytime a sub 6' QB's name is brought up. There is only ONE Drew Brees. Garettson is not him. He will not have a Tebow package as a true freshman at CU. Stop being retarded.

He's welcome to walk-on here. If he truly beats everyone out for the job then so be it.

I see what you did there with applying the HaLkins joke to Webb... I don't think we should be applying that sort of thing to players.

Stop with the stereotyping, just because Webb and Hawkins are average, don't let it ruin it for other not so tall QB. BTW I can also name a lot of short QB that have had success. Let me name one Johnny Manzel. Manzel listed as 6'1". Gerretson listed as 6'0".

Can't believe I'm (kinda) defending bigbang here.

To be fair, you could name 100 QBs over 6'3" that haven't done anything either. It works both ways. You don't give up on a 6' QB because Jordan and Cody didn't pan out at CU. He's a Sr. in high school and will probably grow. You realize that Kordell was 6'1" right? He didn't turn out too bad.

The coaching staff has to look at the player and determine if he is a fit or not. If MacIntyre wants to offer him a scholarship he'll be here. You don't get to decide if he's welcome to walk-on or not.

In summary: I can name 100 idiot crackers. Doesn't mean I wouldn't vote for a whitey to be POTUS.

bigbang is advocating that we take three scholarship QB's in one class. I think that says everything that needs to be said about his idea.

I'm not agreeing we should bring in three QBs in a class. That doesn't make sense.

Just defending his point that we should not write off a 6' QB simply because he is a 6' QB

Not saying this guy will end up being a good college QB, but it doesn't make sense to disregard him purely because of height. There are also plenty of tall QBs that weren't successful at the college and pro levels. Also, it's not just Drew Brees. Russell Wilson, Michael Vick, Johnny Manziel, Mike Moschetti(!).

We have a QB with Sefo that I like. He's not only a great passer, he's a great runner. He's also 6'4. So to me, Sefo > Garettson.

Garettson also played for a team that dominates AZ. Sounds similar to Cody's story... Sefo didn't play on a great team and was constantly running for his life because his OL couldn't block.

Also, compare highlight tape soundtracks... Sefo >>>>>> Garettson. /discussion

For the record, I'm not saying take him over Sefo. I prefer Sefo if the coaches are only taking one QB this cycle.

Take him and Sefo. I expect there will be attrition at the QB position. We may need the numbers. Thats two QB in one class, why are people saying that I want 3?

We are only spending ONE scholarship on a QB this year. Liufau is the guy. Garettson can walk-on. I'd be more than happy to award him a scholly if he is the next Brees.

Am I correct in saying that his only d1 offer was from SJSU? No reason why we need to offer him here.

I'm much more concerned about our glaring OL and speed issues than spending another scholly on Garettson.

I think Mike Mac and staff will be able to get much more out of Hirsch, Dillon or Liufau than our last staff would have.

We need attrition at QB, not the continual adding of QB's. We already have Hirsh, Wood, Webb, Dorman, Dillon, and Liufau. We don't need 6 QB's all on scholarship along with another, even if we lose two of them (ie. Webb and Dorman).

Ideally you take 1 scholarship QB a class with a balance of 4 scholarships QBs spread out from class to class with 1 or maybe 2 walkons.

Also, he went to the same HS as Kisima Jagne. Just saying.

There is something about this post.....

MacIntyre probably spent more time looking at tape of Chandler High School and there in person than any other high school. He obviously must know the Chandler High School coaching staff well.

As soon as Coach Mike takes over at CU, Kissima is gone.

I'll say it in this thread - I suspect there is something to this. Not saying anything bad, but not all players are perfect fits for all coaches and vice-versa.

And, also, Coach Mike is not going to recruit his QB here. If he thinks Sefo is going to work out, he will be done. If he has reservations and this kid absolutely says no thanks to SJSU, and pursues Colorado, there's an outside chance. But it is against the Coaches Unwritten Oath.

Lastly, Sefo is a project. He is athletic but not polished. His footwork is awful. His delivery is not great. And he plays on instincts that have him pull it down and run at first sign of pressure. I watched his entire Junior Film highlights and there was not one play where he stepped up into the pocket to throw. He was flushed out all the time. So what many see as "playmaking", many coaches will be turned off to. I have said it 100x on here. Sefo has 1 offer, despite having showcased his talents on some big stages and camps. He may turn out to have 3 great years somewhere, but he is a project.
