I believe that Rivals video is viewable even if you're not a member. If you can, you need to watch it.

Afterward, we can talk about whether Diallo should be our #1 target for 2014. He looks as good to me as Aziz N'Diaye RIGHT NOW as a high school junior.

Will is going to have an update interview publishing tomorrow.

Videos are always slanted towards making the kid look good but this one does show that he can move, is well coordinated, and can do more to score than most guys his size can scoring from both at the basket and 8-12 feet away in multiple ways.

I know that Tad wants to emphasize speed and mobility but we had issues with opponents who had size this year. We can expect Scott to bulk up some this year and I think Gordon is going to pleasantly surprise some people with his inside toughness but I still put our top three priorities for improvement as a take charge PG, an outside shooter who can force defenses to be honest and not pack the middle, and most importantly a big guy who can help us compete against teams that have size down low.

At first glance this kid looks like a guy who may be able to give us the big inside guy we need and still be mobile enough to work in Tad's system.

This kid moves and jumps way better than Aziz.

Are we taking bets on when this kid cracks the top 100? I'll say mid-June. And this could be one of the fiercest recruiting battles on the west coast with the lack of quality bigs this year. I wonder if the fact he's only been in the US 2 years makes him more or less likely to leave California?

Let's hope he hasn't put down roots in CA. Diallo is going to be a 4* in a hurry and right now I think we're in good position.

Devils Advocate --

a. would like to see more vids
b. shot seems kinda flat (natural for someone of his height, and prolly correctable)
c. in one clip, he gets knocked down; will he really be a presence in the lane or are we looking at ben mills II ?

just some thots before the excitement reaches epic levels

Just gotta get him to campus and let Tad do what he does

Not to be super negative, but Idrissa wants to stay in Los Angeles or California at the least. I'd be fairly surprised if he committed anywhere but UCLA, USC or CAL. Would be a monster get tho if Boyle could convince him to commit to CU

I think the odds are good he plays his college ball in LA, but I wouldn't write him off yet. I don't think this kid knows much more than LA at this point. As tini mentioned, the visit will be key. Get him to Boulder and it might be an eye-opener.

I agree that he probably isn't that familiar with Boulder or Colorado basketball. And there's always the chance that he visits and loves it. Even getting a visit, seems like a bit of a long shot. Boyle can certainly sell him on Dinwiddie and X Johnson's success, being both from Los Angeles. Obviously talking to the kid can't hurt.. recruitment can change with time.

But still, he's only been in the US for a couple years, and it sounds like he wants to play somewhere he's familiar and comfortable too. I like Buffnik's suggestion of bringing in Koundoul. Might help somewhat with familiarity for Diallo, but beyond that, he'd be a good addition to the staff
