Completely blowing up over the summer. Recent offers from Arizona and UCLA to go along with Indiana. Probably has to be considered the top big in the west this recruiting cycle.

Will & Ryan have been on top of this from Rivals. Chatter seems to be that UCLA is in the lead (but I think that came from the UCLA writer, so tifwiw).

My nephew attends the same HS so I will perhaps get scoop. He tells me that this kid is also their QB.

Re: '14 AZ C Michael Humphrey

He must have some great athleticism to play QB and basketball.

Looks like a good big man prospect, will need to obviously add a lot of weight. 205 pounds at 6'10" is extremely lean for a big man.

Sounds like that's his best attribute. Not super polished on the offensive end, but he's a force on the defensive end, especially with blocked shots. Plus, he has 3-point range. Definitely at the top of the wish list for the last scholarship for '14.

Arizona hoops has one hell of a 2014 class. It would be nice to build on our recruiting momentum there and get one of their bigs this cycle.

That vid from November 2012 has him 6'6 190, now he's 6'10 205. For comparison, Ben Mills is listed at 7'0 220.

we lost out to ****ing Grand Canyon? Wait is that the actual Grand Canyon because it is pretty cool.

Final 13 is really a Final 12. Cool of him to get some pub for his local school. He must like the coaches to be doing that for them.

Pretty disappointing that we couldn't make the cut. I wasn't confident that we would land his services with such an offer list but I thought we could at least hang in there for a while with our Arizona presence.

The staff could very well have Humphrey lower on their boards than players like Tory Miller, Thomas Welsh, and David Wacker so there may not have been much recruiting from the staff on Humphrey.

I have no idea, but I have my questions how hard we were on the chase here recently. He fits our mold, so it would be perplexing to a degree if so.

Also, while we've started making a name for ourselves, it's not like the average joe necessarily equates CU as a basketball power at this point. Plenty are yet to be clued in.

I know he wasn't #1 on our list, but he wasn't far behind and the staff was working hard on this one.

It's going to be hard to grab a big man right now. The 2014 class doesn't have a whole lot there and a lot of teams are looking for one.

This may be complicated by the fact that Boyle is likely to wait (in my opinion) until after the season when The Mayor confirms that he is in the NBA draft before signing another player. If Spenser did not go, they have a full roster with Collier's singning in Nov.

We'll have room for 2. Tad can confidently sign that many in November.

I would put better odds on having 4 openings than I would on only having 1 opening.

I think it's better that players like Humphrey are letting CU's staff know that they are out of it early. CU can target players that they have a realistic shot at getting, this way.

Welsh, Miller or Wacker all would be decent fits probably.

Anyone else getting annoyed that we seem to be clearly lower on the West Coast pecking order than Oregon, I know they have the Oregon cachet that rubs off from the football team and the facilities, but our b-ball facilities are pretty decent, and it seems they've gotten a bigger bump from recent semi-success than we have and they certainly haven't put as many players in the league as we have recently, right?

I just assume not everything is legit at Oregon.

ALso, Oregon has used JC and senior transfers more than any school in the nation these last three years. I'm surprised any HS kid would look at Oregon seriously with Altman as HC. I really hope the NCAA changes the rules so he can't grab one year players anymore or make them sit out a year.

Not really annoyed, as they won the Pac 12 tournament, made it to the Sweet 16, and would have won the Pac 12 regular season title had they not completely choked away the last two games.

Eh...as excited as we all are for the future of Buffs basketball, I think a lot of people tend to lose site of where we really stand in the world of college basketball. An NCAA snub and back-to-back tournament appearances (with a Round of 32 finish as the high point) is considered a rough patch at a number of schools. Oregon shouldn't really have the pedigree to draw the attention from a lot of these kids, in my opinion, but I can't complain about the interest CU is generating on the recruiting trail right now.
