Buffup asked a legitimate question. Where do we stand with OL recruits

I started a new thread because I did not want to look at that photo any more.
But the question still remains; where are the OL recruits?
Does anyone know where we stand with OL recruits this coming year?
Do we have a shot at
Sam Jones?
Isaiah Holland?
Flipping Dalton Risner away from a bad KSU team?
Larry Allen Jr.?

Any JUCO OL recruits considering CU?

How about the next year, are there any big-time OL recruits coming out of Colorado in 2015?

We need to upgrade our OL significantly before we get back to being competitive.

We already have Miller and Rodriguez at OT plus all the young kids from last year. I would guess we are looking at interior linemen and I think we are in on Larry Allen but I think we have an even better chance at Isaiah Holland. I am somewhat surprised we haven't offered Holland and Ruth as a package to come in and compete at OG/OT. I'm not that high on Ruth but some of the recruiting services are and I know alot of people like when we keep CO kids in state. The other OT I thought we were really in on is Alex Anderson. I haven't heard alot about his recruitment lately. I don't think Sam Jones is in the cards for us. Trenton Noller at C has really fallen off the charts. It sounds like there are questions about his body. I could see him ending up at CU as a last kid taken in the class type of thing if he shows well on tape this year. Lord knows we need help at C.

Where would you fit them in? We have a total of 85 scholarship players. We took 6 last year with one of them grayshirting. That means we have 3 for this class. That is 9 in two years who most likely will not play any time soon. Freshmen OL kids take time to develop and they are the last to be inserted to play so most aren't ready until the 3rd or 4th year in the program.

Right now we have more pressing needs at skilled positions with the chance of those playing early. We need speed at WR, RB, DB, DE and LB. We could take one more OL or not. It doesn't matter because it will take time to develop. It will pay dividends down the road provided they stay with our program.

I prefer that we concentrate on skilled positions with speed. We still do not have a WR for this class. We could use another fast CB and safety. We need another TE as well.

OL right now is not the most pressing need.

I think Alex Anderson will be the next commit. I feel like Holland is waiting on a bigger offer, otherwise it seems he will probably eventually commit to CU, if we aren't full at that time. The staff seems to be making ground on Sam Jones and Dalton Risner, but it is probably to late. I got the sense that Larry Allen has moved on.

I could see CU taking Anderson and Holland with potential of another OG/C type. JMO

I don't know much about CO's talent for next year. I think we have a couple good DB's but we always seem to have 4 or 5 3 star type linemen. It's to bad we couldn't keep 75 percent of them in state each year because we could literally just recruit CO for O.Lineman if that was the case.

OL right now is not the most pressing need.

You have watched our offense, right?

We cannot run block, we don't pass block. It doesn't matter who our QB is if he is running for his life or flat on his back. It doesn't matter who our RBs are if they are getting hit before they reach the LOS. It doesn't matter who our WRs and TEs are if the QB is getting hit before they can run their routes.

If we are going to go heavy at any position I would rather it be on the OL and DL. The game is won up front and in the middle.

As to recruiting tackles M2 at SJSU and the game in general is moving towards more mobile linemen who can play in space. Tackles tend to be better at this (not always but in general.)

Our biggest need is OL. Sure we have other positions that could be upgraded but we desperately need more talent on the line. Not more bodies necessarily but more talent. I remember the highlight films of asiata. He was a beast mauling small children. We need to start landing players like that and soon so they can have time to develop. I hope we take 2 or 3 more OL with this class and at least one at the level of Risner or Jones. A juco difference maker would be a huge plus for next year.

watched Sam Jones last night against Chaparral and he looked good. Definitely has potential and size.

Does anyone think Holland could follow Ruth to KSU?

I don't know that the old man would take a third OL out of CO but who knows.

My impression is that Holland is pretty focused on academics which if true rules out KjSU. I don't see Holland as a candidate for an ag program and he will have much better options elsewhere in almost any other field.

He also has the advantage of having family that has been through the recruiting process and playing college football. This is going to provide him with a better BS filter.

I hope he ends up at CU, I think he is going to be a better college player than Ruth but don't have a clue where he will end up.

We need a couple JUCOs.

Nice to see the offer out to Louisi. Haven't seen any update on him but according to Rivals we have an offer out to 4* Patrick Au- Oklahoma is the only other listed offer. I would like to see us go after Viane Tiamavoo again- while I know it's an extreme longshot but the kid allegedly is one of Sal Aunese's cousins and initially had interest in the program. Sell him on the dream that he could come protect Sefo and help complete the story.

Seems to me we need a tackle and a guard capable of starting next year. Also need an impact guy at TE and DE.

Thanks for the heads up on Au. I'm going to create a profile right now. I think everyone's going to be excited about him.

Only if we get him.

This is a good sign though. A significant upgrade to the OL would make a huge difference in our offense.

A starting 4* JUCO left tackle is all I ask for. I don't want to be greedy. I think Irwin can step in at guard and continue upgrading our line.
